Teahupoo 10/2/05 and Foil Surf

Last sunday I was out at Teahupoo cause a decent swell was coming in over the weekend and I heard that guys like Laird Hamilton came so it had to be good Wink

I got a friend coming this time so he could film. But since we are on a ski and the swell is pretty good the camera is moving a lot and there's often other boats in the view. But still some cool shots in there. Hope you guys enjoy it:

A couple days after that some friends that towed there that day took us out to teach us how to tow in. It was the best/scariest thing I ever did. I am not much of a surfer if at all, and never surfed reef... Getting towed in a wave twice over head and seeing the green reef sooo close was a huge rush. I only got one shot of a friend riding a medium one for that day, we couldn't really film since the boat was so far from the break. (u can see that one wave at the begining of the foil vid).
Then these guys wiped the foil surf out and we gave it a go for the first time in the lagoon. That thing is wicked, feels like flying... And if you have a BIG swell you can surf it with that even if it doesn't break!!! Laird surfed for 10 Km on a big swell Shocked

that's like 6 miles!! Anyway here's a video of us trying that new toy Very Happy

It was my first time towing in on tuesday. In the foil vid it opens on a wave where we towed at.

Maybe in a year or ten I'll try Teahupoo haha Smash

. Friends told me it's the 3rd time you eat it that's really bad. First one is on a small wave usualy, and it's okay. So you get confident wich is good. Then you hit bigger, eat again. And once more your okay. Now your not confident anymore your cocky. So you want a big one, you eat it, you think your gonna die Very Happy

These guys hitting teahupoo all the time told me it often goes down like that.

So I'm waiting to eat it at least 3 times on 3-4m (9-12ft) waves before going for the hammers ^^

i rode a airchair today!!! so fiznackling fun. I got to ride on the foil for about 30 secs without touching the board to the water. The wipe out pics are hell of funny.. i did what looked like a back flip and then came crashing down like a ton of bricks.

Now I want to try foilboarding!!!!!!

foils are so sick. i cant imagine how fun it would be to surf on one.
