Well, to start off I would like to say hi to everyone. A few months ago me and some friends started wakeboarding, and we have progressed a lot while also learning about wakeskates. Our curiosity led us into the typical case of grabbing an old wakeboard, taking off the bindings and trying to wakestake. This was fun as hell, so right now i'm in the process of buying a real skate, but on a budget. After searching for info on this site I finally decided that my choices would be either a cassete flat skate, or a hyperlite phriction. I would really like to have a concave deck, but the price is too high. I also checked out ebay and came upon an inexpensive concave that looks decent. What do you guys think? Is it good or what other choices do you recommend? I'm looking for something below $100
This is what I found: Butter Boards 40" concave

It will be sort of tricky to find many concaves under 100 bones... but keep watching ebay and looking for deals on mailorder sites. I've heard some weird things about the wood butter concaves, as far as weight issues, being too heavy and such. I'd see what other kids on here have to say about them though. If you're not in a rush right now, I'd say keep looking around. _________________

| you dont want a butter board, my buddy has one and its really shiznackle... I say get a board thats a lil heavier and that way you can really feel it under your feet when your learning, stay with wood cause there easier to spin on shuvs and stuff, I would go with a gator, there really bouyent so you dont have to land perfect on the board to ride away, you can land with a foot on the nose and the other on the middle of the board and still pul tricks out, and fiber glass might be easier for you just to get used to not being strapped in... But yea i dont really know what to tell you but i am sure there are poeple on here that will really be able to help you out once you get mrore post, but good luck and welcome to wakeskating!! |

hwake, you made the right decision! Welcome the wakeskating!
As for me, my first board was a Cassette flatdeck and I loved it. Plus it was under $100. But thats me and you might want to hear from a few other guys on the forum. _________________ when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

hwake, CLICK on my sig and check out the boards from the company i ride for there tight, I just got done test ing them and there going to be off the hook for 06. Concave doesnt make anydifference really when your starting off. theres even pros that ride flat decks, so dont stress on that.
