I know this has nothing to do with general wakeskating but I tought I should post it here cause it should interest most of you Wink

check this: http://www.wavewatch.com/

That big red dot is right south of Tahiti... I was out all day at Teahupoo, and this was by far the sickest session this year.

I was on the ski so I didn't get to film much, but here is a little video of a medium sized wave for that day, and it's about 20ft or so... A couple of waves got close or over 30ft, and that's on razor sharp and shallow reef Shocked

divx here.
wmv here.

uploading right now give it 10 minutes Wink

I wished I surfed it lol

only a few guys where towing in. many came from Hawaii just for that swell

Most sick part was a couple of bodyborders charging those monsters paddling!! I also saw Stewart hit a HUGE one on his bodyboard towed by a ski, sick

Bodyboarding sucks!!!! No matter how crazy waves those guys drop in, I still reckon it sucks bad. It's something like a triple front flip 1080 on a knee board... its crazy but sucks soooooooo!!! much.

Anyway, those waves are SICK
nice vid

I'll post a vid soon, not surfing chopes, but some wakeskating. Not saying I'm any good, but I try the good stuf. If I'd have tha chance to try chopo, it'd be on a surfboard, even if I ended up smashed on the reef.

once you see that wave you would think other wise that is the heaviest wave in the world nothing is heavier and I dont care what anyone says If you know surfing you know that wave. And you cant even drop in on a surf in that big of a wave its just falls off the side of the earth into a vertical wave. Unless you want to die

freerider4, no surfer tried paddling in!

last year is was just a little smaller and much glassier, so Shane Dorian was paddling in... crazy dudes.

Only the bodyborders could hit it paddling up and the risk of getting liped during the bottom turn was pretty high... I got a bodyborder on the ski with me for a time so he could film stuff. He told me he droped in once and got liped. Lucky for him one of the tahitian water patrol dude (poto, probably the best big wave surfer after laird) saved his ass. He was drowning, reached out, next thing he knows he is hanging on the sledge Wink

that wave is from a medium size set...

I'll post a little longer version of the vid so you guys can see who is filming. I wont post anymore more footage till I safely can.

Nekkie has the swell maxed out yet? I was supposed to be heading out to Cabo in a couple of weeks when this starts to pull out but I was looking at wavewatch and it looks huge down there man you are lucky to be living in that land. Hows the weather down there year round? Have you towed into when its small with a wakeskate? My buddy and I where talking about getting towed in on a skim so if we ever get the opportunity to come down you want to yank us in?

big country, it maxed out on sunday and kept going down from there.

I wanted to tow in with my skate a couple of times, but teahupoo is not the spot for that. When it's small it's even gnarlyer cause it is so shallow.

Weather is very good year round, we don't really have a heavy rains or hurricane season and it is always warm, air and water.

Hit me up for sure if you guys come down and we'll try to wakeskate some waves. Tough part is being able to actualy get towed in, cause if it's windy the ocean gets so rough, and just riding to the wave can be a challenge lol

Yeah Ive seen some pretty crazy video from that place. I know its not a place you would want to fall. Ive stood on some pretty gnarly reefs and I wouldnt even want to imagine what it would be like to fall on it with that much pressure on top. You guys get weather like Cabo year round sunshine. Bastards.... hahaha anyways I will keep in touch because my crazy ass freind wants to try it and who knows we might get a trip down there. Also are there any beaches with shore break and sand beaches?>

In Tahiti there are only 2 beach breaks, and you can't really skim any cause it's round river rocks on the shore :X

There are maybe a couple of good skim spots where people don't surf at all, but I don't know 'em... yet Wink
