i am glad oak wakeskates have evolved and the surface spin controversy is on the table. After long meditations and chanting with my master,i have come to the conclusion that surface spins are the soul of wakeskating.Just like a big powder turn on a snowboard or a knarly frontside grind in an empty pool with 4 feet of vert or a sweet ride in a glassy tube on a surfboard. These are all a part of where things had begun, where they are going and where they are at now.Sure, there are always bigger and badder things.70 ft tabletop jumps or 3 ft backcountry booters on huge rollers on your snowboard that shoot you to china, frontside boardslides on a 12 stair on your skateboard, wake to wake kickflips,etc.....and so on.....so yes,let us not forget where we come from and where we are going......so let us build from what we know and not only bulid from what we know now..........so now, thanks to oak i can only hope now to perfect the 1260 surface spin....................www.oakwakeskates.com

never said was where it began....said it was the soul.....the word "begun"was used out of context to make a point....my master will teach you to read though.

these are the soul...blah blah blah...examples, examples..."these are where things began, and where things are going and where they are at now..."

So I guess surface spins are here to stay, just like the powder slash or the frontside grind? Or, or, like hyperlite likes to say (courtesy of parks bonifay) "soul turns will never die."

I pray to MY master that surface spins are not here to stay because (and I"m going to be blunt here, so pardon me) they were not, and never were the "soul" of wakeskating. Honestly, if you do your research, you'll find that many early forefathers were influenced by skating. The surface spin never had a chance for acceptance, except by the people that like to wakeskate because, "I can move my feet around and I can take a break from my bindings because they hurt my feet." Many of them would cringe if they thought the surface spin was the soul of wakeskating. Quite frankly, some of these riders work really hard to make wakeskating look legitimate and respectable, and the surface spin will take it nowhere.

now that I'm done with my little spiel, ole away...

oh really...wakekating was influenced by skateboarding....i must be either ignorant or retarded not to know that.....i was talking about the soul of it not what it was influenced by.....we know that......it is only an opinion of what one believes may be the soul is of something........so yeah, when you're ready my master will teach you to read and respond correctly....

chloee, I can't read. These posts and what not, just like the arrangement of single letters to form full words and sentences, they're all pure luck. And if I get lucky writing them, i sure as hell get SUPER lucky if I can read them.

here, let's see if I get this right: In my opinion, the soul of wakeskating does not lie in surface turns. In my opinion, the worst trick anyone could claim as "the soul of wakeskating" is a surface turn.

Did that work? I'm pretty sure that's all I need to say here.

Pirate, name your next baby after me...

actually, that's my fault, so let me correct myself: "In my opinion, the soul of wakeskating does not lie in surface spins. In my opinion, the worst trick anyone could claim as "the soul of wakeskating" is a surface spin."

I told you I couldn't read or write, and this is all just luck. I'm sure your wise, surface-spin-loving master already knows this...

Yes pirate...yes... Very Happy

I didn't want to admit it and i've been fighting it for a long time,i was hoping to find something better, but we all know the real soul of wakeskating is the Devil,so lets leave it at that and move on>just messin with u elecric boy...dont get so mad....i got a dr phil cd to help u out with that angst.Anyway,on a lighter note, there is new video up on the oak wakeskates website of josh kirby....its pretty good....i personally cant find anything wrong with it except maybe kirbys lack of a tan...but otherwise it is good solid riding......so let the oak wakeskating video critiqing begin.

urinal mint, I have money on myself that says "quarter to never."

That is, in fact, if you're referring to the surface spin debate. If not..then I don't know, and dont' really care.
