I'll try defending myself too then Very Happy

What I meant is... They want to push forward their co (I guess), so they put up a trailer of one of their riders. I don't know if he's a pro, or the dude making the boards, or even the dude awnsering the phone calls. I couldn't care...

But they are the one they CHOSE to put in their trailer. And I'm sorry, but this doesn't bring a very positive image to the co.

And yes, I support ROC. But it's not some numbnut supporting: Roc goooood, all else baaadd... It is not JUST because it is ROC that it deserves respect and is a tight co...

I'm not saying Oak is a shiznackle co or anything. Heck, we haven't even seen their skates yet...

I'm just saying they could have put up a better demo vid, that's all...

And as Headhunter said, some here said they had killer PROs... I guess that dude in the video wasn't one of them then... then why only him in the demo vid?

exactly nekkie, for real i dont have single bad thing to say for anyone company and im definately gna check em out at the expo. but as far as a team goes, if thats what they are bringing to the table then they better have sick boards cause theyll definately need to make up for it. but you know maybe its not their pro and maybe they have some sickness in the bag waiting to pop outta NC

Oh and I still stand behind my ashamed thing earlier...

If I were a pro, riding for a new co, I'd be STRAIGHT ashamed to throw surface spins on and out of tricks. Like that Ole 5 from the Pro tour about year ago that started shyte. If it was 2nd degree then it's funny, but If the guy was serious about throwing a slided spin then... OMG

As a person that doesn't get to ride much (I haven't ridden since Spring Break this year, and won't get a chance to ride again until next spring) I support anyone and everyone that is willing to put any type of content on the web. I really like to watch Nekkie's and Vance's videos for the good riding and the cool editing... but I also like to watch everyone else ride as well, it's kinda hard to explain. I like the fact that they put that up there, so what it's not the best riding out there. Their website isn't even done yet, give them some time and a chance to put newer and better content up there. It was just a video of the rider having a blast, isn't that supposed to be what this sport is all about?

we all know the kid is having fun while hes riding, but does his riding make you want to buy one of their boards. Pros are a representation of the company they ride for. Im not bashing the company at all and im sure they make good products, but throwing surface spins in a companys demo video is pretty weak.

It's not even the companies demo video though. It's just something that they had to put up on the site. Their website/media isn't even complete yet... It's not like this is a marketing video to make people buy the boards.

senorbueno, I agree with you.

I also love watching the vids of guys here that are just riding around and throwing a couple of shuvs, and I wouldn't miss one. It's what the sport is about, I couldn't agree more.

But I'm just saying, even for Oak's sake lol, that this not a very good way to advertise your product. Even more so if it is the FIRST public footage of your product.

Thanks for all the jibber jabber. Positive or negative, we're stoked to even have folks talking about us.
I've read most of the posts so I'm going to answer some questions for you and that will be that. I won't be responding to any posts, nor will I write another. This is it.
Our boards will officially debut at Expo. They will not be available until then. If you want to know what's up. Come and talk to us. We'd be happy to answer your questions.
Oak is our name. No, our decks are not made of oak. Why? How many oak skateboards have you seen lately? Maple is the standard for a reason. It's light but tough. Super pop without all the heaviness of other woods.
We make skateboards for the water and that's that.
Oak trees are strong. The roots of an oak run deep. They do not bend and they do not break. The lifespan of oak tree goes well into the hundreds in years. Yeah, it's artsy and symbolic. But that's pretty much why we are Oak Wakeskates.
Our decks are heat pressed and hand routed, one at a time by wakeskaters. Our decks are gripped, packaged and shipped,by wakeskaters. Oak wakeskates are designed and built, beginning to end, by wakeskaters. All our graphics, media and softgoods are cooked up and served by..... you guessed it amigos. US.
Why do we make it a point to tell you about our marine glued decks?
Marine glue was formulated for boats. We've never seen a boat delam. have you? It costs us more but not you. Nobody uses marine glue because it is not cost effective. Most, simply seal the wood and call it a day.
The fact that you have a huge bag of tricks or if you only have two, really does not matter to us. We're not here to judge your riding. We're here to get you riding on quality wood and make sure you stay stOAKed.
We will one day have a pro team but we do not at this point. It takes time to build a solid team, so don't sweat it kids.
We built Oak ourselves. No backers, No private investments. One day we decided to take our passion for wakeskating to the next level. It's been over a year and we've been testing our decks and building Oak. Hate us or love us.
Our web site will be up soon enough. We'll keep posting random items here and there until the official site is up. Thanks for the love and thanks for the hate.

Stephen Hughes, thanks for giving us more info about Oak wakeskates!

I hope you don't see criticism as hating... It's very cool and normal that you support just any rider, and want everyone to be happy with the deck they are riding (ie: no frikin delams). But when you *showcase* a product people are going to make comments on how it is showcased.

I hope everything will work out for Oak, has good roots Wink

Yah, that is typical for a revolting teenager like you to say such things.

Mike T seems like a cool and interesting guy. He has an insane amount of Tattoos. He builds wakeskates and rails. Cary and I hung out with him a few weeks back. He is the closest thing to a real live Pirate, long hair, tattoos, chewing tabaco, etc.

No Joke, he has a car which runs on cooking greese.....NO JOKE, cooking greese!! He said he will be driving down to surf expo filling his car with fuel at McDonald's........for serious!

I've got an Oak Wakeskates sticker on my wakeskate (top right corner). It has broughten me good luck. I think that he might has cast a magical spell on it. http://www.sattelyte.com/images/rail.jpg

On a whole, expect to see some interesting things from these guys. I look forward to hanging out with Mike at Surf Expo and hearing about the new and strange/magical things he will be creating next.

Rock on!!
