|
|
My wife & I both got new DVS Dresdens last September; I got yellow/green, she got the black w/ white & red stripes.
The suede trim around hers is falling apart; the fuzzy finish is coming off in chunks, leaving the white sub-surface behind. The shoes look like they have leprosy. The trim on my yellow pair is more of a slick leather finish, and they are holding up much better.
However, the mesh near the heels on both pairs is being torn up, now that we've switched to a grip tape skate (from resting heels on the skate waiting for the pull). I realize they're constantly wet & dry, and the grip tape damage is understandable, but we still expected them to last a little longer. Sure didn't expect the suede to start shedding. We love riding in them & they get a lot of props on this site, so it's a bit disappointing.
We're checking out other shoes now; both Jet Pilot & Kampus have some pretty decent looking stuff. We tried on some Reef Byerly's, but they didn't provide nearly as much support & comfort as the Dresdens.
Anybody else have trouble with their DVS? Any other shoe suggestions? |

the dresdens seem to be better for just wearing, and not skating. i would recomend regular dvs shoes for wakeskating. although the kampus shoes look good, and i heard that the new reefs are better this year. |

i think everything that sits in water or rubs against griptape (it's sandpaper!!) falls apart. I dont know why everyone gets so surprised about it, especially with a pair of MESH shoes. Mine did the same thing after less than 3 months of riding, but they were awesome shoes, and you got yours LAST september??? Almost a year, and they werent supposed to get warped? _________________

rob, point well taken.
I agree that grip tape damage is to be expected, they are constantly wet, and it has been almost a year. They're our first pair, so I just wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience.
I still think they're great shoes, just disappointed in the suede coming apart. |

no, i do undertsand that. but i actually had the yellow/green mesh drasdens and literally, they didnt last longer than 3 months of riding. but i rode 5 days a week, and the suede started to rip from its stitching; there were holes on the heels of the mesh, and the mesh on the outside got all fuzzy and weird. also there were holes in the mesh on the sides, like where youd ollie with your foot. but yeah, they pretty much all get destroyed like that. _________________
