OK then. I am very interested in this sport, but am having a very hard time getting up on the board. My friends have a couple boards, but I cannot seem to get up at all. Let me say, I am a bigger guy, but very active and I am convinced that I can do this. Any suggestions for a type of board I should purchase...I think the ones I am trying to use maybe too small, or just won't support me. I weigh in at 260...any suggestions would be great. |

Which skates have you been trying that seem too small? _________________ √ |

try one one the Liquid force wide series boards, like an impulse/control 43 wide.
also when your getting up, make sure you arnt leaning back too hard, being a big guy, its putting to much strain in the rope and just making a battle between you and the boat, so kind of push your toes down a little to plane(sp?) the board off more and 'foil' the board out of the water. |

im 6 4" and i had the same problem about getting up.but what i relized was it was me and not the board. i ride a hyperlite phricition 113. try turning the board in the water right as soon as the boat starts to pull instead of riding sideways for a second. and then put an assload of pressure on your back foot. that will pop the nose right outta the water.works for me give it a try _________________ CLASSIK WAKESKATES

That doesn't sound right.
1. Have your knees bent to your chest with your feet on the skate under the water.
2. Lift your toes slightly so the toeside of the skate is raised, toward the boat.
3. When the boat goes, keep this position and the skate should start to lift you out of the water. Keep your toeside up slightly!
4. Once you're out of the water and the skate is out of the water, wait about 5 seconds and then turn the nose of the board toward the boat.
The main problem people have getting up is that they have the board angled too much in the water and it's dragging too much. This takes power away from the boat and adds lots of tension to the line. Just remember to keep the board as flat as possible, but a little raised on the toeside edge.
