Had an impulse buy on the way to the lake last week. We were going on our annual 8 day trip and i was riding up with some friends so last minute i decided to stop off at the board shop and get a wakeskate. I didnt wanna get too far in debt and they only had a limited selection at the time so i just went with a scape 112. Im not good enough at all to tell the difference, but i gotta say it was a blast. Last year i tried my friends scape that he got with his new boat and neither of us were any good at all....barefoot. just having my dresdens (which i got 60% off a couple months ago ) was a huge improvement. I think i may actually be able to ollie a skateboard now too, which i could never do before. On my best pops i would say i got about 8-12" but just the little things on the skate that are easy on a wakeboard were so rewarding...........so what do i do now. I need to learn something new, i can ollie a little (need to get a lot higher consistently), 1 wake air and kind of front slide. If i go backside...i fall on my face. |

i would say you try a shuvit or a 180, both are real fun, but a 180 might be easier since you dont have a skateboarding backround. keep workin on your other stuff too. _________________ I like to choke when my team needs me the most, no Romo. |

What I did at the start was just trying doing 180's and 360's on the water. It helps with your switch riding and you get a really good practice with your balance. That is if you are riding finless. _________________ liberation |

It sounds like you have your surface ollies good, start trying some inside out ollies. Thats when you start in the middle of both wake carve and pop off of one of the wakes and land in the flats if your good. My first trick after the ollie was a Body Varial, then i went onto 180s. _________________ "On the moon, nerds get there pants pulled down and they are spanked with moon rocks." |

Looks like you are stoked on wakeskating.... best thing that could have happened to you
as SnoSk8er10 said I would also work on balance and feeling comfortable.
Try some surface spins, this will help you with riding switch and if you do 360 you will also learn how to pass the handle in your back...
Then I would work on sliding the lip. Approach it frontside (wake in front of you) and have your tail go over, so you are sliding facing the boat. Thats a frontside lipslide. Once in that position, try to finish the rotation in the same direction you did to go into the slide. You will end up where you started, but switch. That's a frontside lipslide to fakie _________________

yea, i am definitely feeling the stoke. Its cool because even though its a break off of wakeboarding, its a way different feeling. Everything that i can do no problem (ollie, lipslide, surface slide, wake2wake, etc) on a wakeboard is a whole different ball game on the skate. So far i've been able to do a couple front lipslides, but i cant get it to "lock" in over the lip and stay there, i always drift away so they dont last long.
Question: about how fast do most people ride. I just randomly started at 15 and that feels pretty good. When im out of shape wakeboarding i start in around 18-20 and work up to 21-22. |

I also ride at 21-22.5 depending on what I'm doing, usualy faster for w2w to get a better response from the water, or at least I feel better w2w going faster
15 is really slow, good for when your getting out of the water for the frist time and for the first few minutes. Work your way up to atleat 19-20 next time you ride, you'll see the difference
To *lock* on lipslides use your body weight. Put pression on the foot opposite to the direction you are drifting to ^^ Some people use the handle (as they say in SNAP) but it just doesn't work for me lol _________________
