I think that COMPARED to wakeboarding, the wake is meaningless. How many wakeboarding events are pulled with PWC? None - it would be super boring. Yet, many skate events are pulled behind PWC.

Yes, having a NICE wake is a good thing for wakeskating - and I am not saying otherwise. My point is that you do not have to have a tourney level inboard with 1000lbs of ballast to wakeskate. In wakeskating, IMHO, shape is more important then sheer size.
