How much ballast do you guys use when you go wake to wake?

How long of a rope do you ride with?

and do you use fins for w2w?

this pic is me riding at 80ft, 22mph, no fins, 400 lbs of stock ballast, and four people in my friends 2001 Ait Natique. I can land 65 ft + 400lbs ballast w2w airs pretty consistantly. I want to go bigger though. I want to make wakeboarders jealous even, haha. I was getting really close to landing it but i wasnt quite getting enough speed to clear the wake. Its a challenge to figure out the right ollie pop amount to get you the highest possible air while still being able to land on the other wake's transisiton. When you get good air on a wakeskate w2w you almost are required to land on the other wake... if you dont you end up going splat when your knees cant suck up the impact. i'm sad that they didnt get any of the crash shots, i'm sure they would have been really funny.

Chris Barcellos, When im riding behind the 02 San, Im riding with the stock ballast "all 3 tanks full" @ about 22mph and i always ride with fins. on a 80ft rope... i would say get a little bit better cut at the wake or pull 5ft out of your rope to resolve you casing issue. Casing sucks and its a good way to blow out your knees really fast.

75ft and a tad bit slower might solve your problem... and you will have plenty of time and pop.

Hope this helps some.

i would say try sticking a small fin on, it'll be way easier to get a nice cut into the wake.

u guys have long ropes Razz

i'm usually riding at 55/60 lol and @ 22 for w2w, 21.3/21.5 for lip tricks.

I need to work on my w2w and riding a longer rope. I'd like to be comfortable at 60/65. On the X-9 with some weight that makes a pretty wide wake at that lenght

Whoever told you that was a idiot, it varies on what boat you are riding behind and weight... For instance, the wake on the Malibu is almost two feet wider than the Nautique and they both have a totally different wake shape... every boat is different, and it really comes down to what works best for you as a rider... Its like saying if everybody rode brand X of board it will make you ollie a foot higher.

This is so true.....I find it easier to go W2W on my friends SAN at 75' than it is on my Mobius at 60' .

Actually I rode a bi level for the first time tonight and I was getting like a foot higher ollie as was my friend who just purchased it.... and I had way better pop W2W..... Neutral
