Today i lit a candle and dripped the wax into the fin holes on my wakeskate. It looks good since the candle color matches the bottom of my board but i was wondering if anyone else only uses wax and if it comes out after a few runs.

I would have just waited and tested it out my self but i got 1 1/2 days of doing nothing and i figured i should get it done while i have the time.

P.S. I tried searching but i couldn't find anything about wax falling off.

the only problems ive had with wak is that if it sits in the sun it melts back out. i have heard of people using hot glue but i have never tried it.

i never heard of wax, seems like a good idea. hot glue is too permenant for the most part. at least with the wax you could melt it out yourself if you wanted to put fins in for a day

I never had a problem with just leaving the holes open. In my opinion those little open holes don't change anything with the way the board rides.

Never mind, i did it anyway, it turned out awesome. And if i ever wanna ride fines i can just drill into the glue and it will be good as new.

1. filling the holes is not to fix the ride, on a wood skate it helps it last longer, it protects the core and prevents delamm

2. the sticker goes over the wax to prevent it from melting out in the sun, just putting a sticker over it is pointless the water pressure will punch through it eventually, plus a sticker is NOT an effectife form of water proofing

3. wax is if you feel you might want to put fins in it later, you can take it out, a better solution is 2 part epoxy, I dont like hot glue, b/c it can catch and rip the whole plug out then its un sealed again

thats why TAAA DAAAA Laughing

Nekkie, I filled mine because I felt it was just another way for the water to ruin the wood. I want any exposed wood to be covered up.
