Boardstop was giving them away at the longhorn rail jam (thanks Ed!) Its pretty good, I think Byerly is involved with it, its got something to do with a video wakeskate magazine like 411. |

From what I've heard, it's not byerly. (maybe you're thinking of volume since you mentioned 411?) It's gator, mark weikel, and then kris burke contributed a lot to that first issue. It has a long way to go as far as professionalism is concerned, but when it comes down to it...there's really no replacing the fact that you're holding a wakeskating magazine in your hands. I liked that aspect to it, but the content and presentation needs some work. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Asking too many questions. I'm pretty good at that--ask anyone. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

yeah I saw one it's a cool concept. But like esnow said the presentation is lacking. In my opinion the photos were horrible. |

Yeah, I guess mark's parents are in publishing? I wouldn't say the mag is "dope"...I'll leave it at that because I'd just be re-stating my first post.
Revolutionconcepts, I'm not sure if you're wanting to make a big mag (like WAKESKATE LIFEEEE) but you could still make a small, DIY styled rag. I've been thinking about that lately and it would be a cool thing to do. And nowadays, it seems like it'd be a bit easier, now that computer printers are dope, and then you have personal connections through the internet and such (these web forums, radspace.not, etc). But it also seems like the website has somewhat replaced those magazines...when you look at wakeskating and wakeboarding and you look at the little sites like your sites, wakeeuphoria.com, and I'll even throw in norcalwake.com (even though it's strictly chatty). They were all born out of necessity--getting someone's ideas out there (or creating a tight community). And there are skaters that have started up various websites as well, like neil blender and everyone else I can't remember.
Anyway, you should do it. I'm working on turning some of my projects into a little limited edition book. I'm only making like 20 books because they'll be expensive (lots of color photos), but it will be cool to take the whole thing one step further and not only make it a personal project, but then to have all of that information in one place will be kind of nice...right now I'm inspired by the indy book because of all of the memorabilia, and then just the andy howell book and disposable.
so yeah, anything is something, and it's better than nothing. Just come up with a better name than wakeskate life (I keed, I keed). _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |
