yeah, so me and my boi kev-o have been scoping out spots to build a rail. either the property isn't hidden enough, or the pond is too short. i remembered this lake across from where i live. we used to build gnarly bmx trails there. went and took a looksy, and with a little work, this one should fit the bill. it's all grown over with pond scum, but it has a nice gravel bottom. a little rake session, and we should be able to start building. gonna start with a 16 foot incline rail. prolly like 6 inches up to 3 1/2 feet high.
so, i'm gonna log all our progress in the next week or so in this thread.
it will be some work, but mos-def worth it. specially with 80 degree weather headed our way. Very Happy
Wink

that is like patches of pond scum. pretty easy to clean with a rake. the pond is atleast 300 feet long. prolly like a two tricker. isn't too deep, but deep enough. the killer thing is that it's a nice bottom. you won't sink in to y'er knees.

Thats sick man good luck. When i saw this thread yesterday it made me jealous because i don't have a pond to call my own so i went out to a spot that i remembered from some bike ride or something and i checked it...its perfect. Hidden in the trees long and wide about waits deep. So we went back today and started trimming branches and such where the winch would sit to get a clear pull and we heard noise that sounded like trees cracking so we investigated only to find there's a god damn beaver dam on the other end where we planned to start and we counted 4 beavers swimming about are pond. Not gonna stop us though we got big plans for this place. The only other problem is it has that leafy bottom that you sink in when you walk and im pretty sure its infested with leaches.

yreah, so this pond is super gnarly. weed so thick, theres no budging them. i'm thinking maybe some sort of plant bomb. some dude told me dry ice? whatever i gotta do something. might just buck up and deal with it. gotta build a rail somewhere. anybody know of something that effectively kills weeds and algae? and how much this shizzle would cost? Evil or Very Mad

get a piece of metal and tie a rope to it on each side and pull it through the pond and all the weeds will get stuck to it and then you just have to pull all the weeds off, you can do the same thing in a lake just tie it up behind the boat and go slow

thanks ben. i saw that stuff before, but couldn't think where. 64$ would definitely be worth it. so, if the pond is like 300 feet long, and 100 feet wide, that's less than 4000square feet, right? Laughing

Where's that at? I'm outside Detroit and live on a lake too big to winch, filled with all kinds of scum and shizzle...
