I don't wake skate a ton(I can only jump w2w toeside, heelside and do shovs in the flats, did learn a fs lip to 270 out on the new doyle) but with the price of gas and the winch I just built I am going to skate a ton more this summer.

Anyway I am coming from an 04 catalyst that rides way different from the doyle. The doyle seems slippery as hell and I can't even jump w2w on it, I slide out on my shovs too. I can slide the wake great because of the rounded edges on the doyle. Can anyone who has made the switch to a board with softer edges give me any advice. I am about 5'10" 150 lbs and ride around 20 mph if that helps

Yes, the stock fins. I might try it with some old ground down fins from my byerly.

You will get used to it. It isn't supposed to ride like a wakeboard.

I made the switch from a 03 Byerly to a doyle, it took me a little while but i got used to it. All my skate tricks got better and started learning alot faster once I got it. The wake tricks are a little tricky at first, it takes a little mre control that with a hyperlite on a count of there being rounded edges, but I would keep riding it without fins and give a little while, plus the doyle is a lot tougher than the hyperlites

I can barely ollie a foot on it. I got it because of its durability, a couple bails on the rail and my catalyst was all dinged up and delaminating. I am brutal on equiptment and want a skate that will last. My 2nd problem is that I also wakeboard and ride a tfd, that board is like a missle when on edge. I take a skate run and its hard to adjust. I know, ditch the wakeboard.

Hopefully I can adjust to it, if not I might have to switch to a board with sharper edges.

Melvinator, i made a 35 inch plywood board, sealed it w/ 3 coats of oil based paint and thompsons deck sealer, made it to hold me over until my integ comes in and ive had it for 3 weeks and its a tank. i have hit my rail over 40 times w/ it and it still its strong as ever....

Is it concave? I teach woodshop and have a masters degree in technical education and can tell you 3 coats of paint and some deck sealer won't last long. I slide my boards 50 times a week easy. I have a byerly worn to the foam after 2 trips to OWC and that board had the jib base. Wood boards are not going to last in my world, bases and edges need to be made of a hard plastic, I am still kicking around the idea of a foam board with a hdpe base.
