I am trying to work on getting my ollies a little higher and have a few questions.
When people say that on wakeskate you don't have to roll your foot to ollie like you would in skateboarding do they mean you don't have to slide your foot up?
Also, I'm not sure if this is true or not but for me it feels like on a wakeskate you pop, and then move your front foot forward to even it out. On the other hand, when you ride a skateboard you pop the tail and slide your foot at the same time. Am I right in saying you that you do them one after the other on a wakeskate?

Yea, it's more of a push than a slide (of your foot). Watch the ollie trick tip video on this site too. _________________ I like to choke when my team needs me the most, no Romo. |

Oh yea it's not like a skateboard where you pop and slide your foot up when you feel the snap, it's more of a flowing kind of motion. Sorry if that's confusing, I can't teach people over the e-net. _________________ I like to choke when my team needs me the most, no Romo. |

| jboss, This may be a topic for a whole new thread but, how much has skateboarding helped you with wakeskating? |

It's not a perfect transfer, but it definately helped generally. A shuvit on a skateboard and wakeskate is pretty similar so it didn't take long to learn it. I'm gettin close to kay-effs too, even though it's a way different feel and harder to do on a skate I got the general motion down. So yea if you have a skating backround and are decent at it it should help. _________________ I like to choke when my team needs me the most, no Romo. |

Jama, on a skateboard you also pop the tail first and then roll your foot foward. Its not like wakeskating though... best tip for ollies on wakeskates for me is to dig your front foot, and than your back foot for pop. After thet you can move your front foot foward, maybe even roll it for style and heigth. _________________ CONCAVE co.

flatten out completely kinda bounce once then pop the tail. then roll your body foward, you will figure it out as you get more and more comfortable on the board. but it is hard to explain on the computer. _________________ That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead thou shalt be saved. | Jama, when you ollie try to jump of your back foot as hard as you can and bring up you back leg so the board can actually leave the water. when you reach the peak of the jump flaten out with your front foot |

jama you know i skate and a skateboard ollie is quite a bit different. my wakeskate ollies are getting really high now. skateboarding ollies you pop, and drag. wakeskating i just pop and sorta pull up, my front foot does go forward a little bit but it's not a drag at all. it's sorta hard to explain but i'm sure you know what i'm talking about.
but here's exactly what i do. i sorta rock my body forward on the board, and as soon as i'm coming back down on the back rocker, i pop as hard as i can, then i just pull up and it should all come natural from there.
btw man we should deff ride sometime! |

Jama, IMO, your not digging your back foot hard enough and not sucking your front knees high enough! do this and your ollie will be higher. _________________

| i know from skateboarding for 5 years that its really important to lift up your back leg\foot i usually think of myself doing ollie souths which gets me really high. btw ollie souths is what i call the trick not a real trick though where you lift up your back leg a ton. |

| THE KEY IS TO HAVE BOTH FEET IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PRE-KICKS. THEN LIKE THE OTHER BRO'S SAID, POP AND SUCK UP THEN LEVEL OUT. IT'S ALL ABOUT TRUSTING YOU'R BOARD TO COME UP AND STAY LEVEL. |

I'm rather new, but i rock forward a bit and then slam the hell out of my back foot and then i level out like i would on a skateboard, no foot movement. _________________ Back from the dead |

| if you try to submerge the nose with you front foot and then to your back foot front foot ollie rythm like a skateboard youll get higher. it makes the board want to come out of the water because of its shape. this is why you see people 'pumping' somewhat. if you try to just start with your back foot you will get an ollie, but not as high because you wont have the same leverage and it may suction (a little) to the water not keeping the board to your feet. i like the board up against my feet when i ollie. |
