Do you guys wakeskate with contact lenses?
I do, but when the spray hits me in the eyes it really sucks. Blurry vision for like 2 minutes...
What's your experience with contact lenses on the water? |

This is a very good topic Paul, thanks for posting it.
My wife rides with her contacts in and they don't seem to bother her most of the time. Sometimes when they do she has to drop and fix them, then get back up. Usually it is the wind that causes the problem, not falls.
I don't wear contacts, but I do wear glasses. I can see well enough without my glasses for it to not be an issue. |

Yea I've never had any problems with mine. I switched to soft a few months ago and it sucks. I was so used to the hard lenses and they felt comfortable and then my eye doctor switches me to soft lenses. Oh well |

I've used contact lenses since my first time on a wakeskate five years ago... Gotten used to close my eyes every time I fall. Think I've lost one or two in a period of five years... Don't consider using contact lenses when I wakeskate as a problem. I have always an extra pair with in the boat just in case... _________________ _____________________________

Yes, having an extra pair in the boat is the smartest thing to do.
Cause if I lost the first pair, I would still be able to find my way back home...

In fact, every wakeskater should get those googles, even if he doesn't wear contacts.
Abdul-Jabbar googles should be part of the standard wakeskating uniform. |

No issues with my contacts and water spray. I have only lost one lense and that was from a full on barefooting faceplant.
Goggles and glasses would do much more damage in the event of a face plant _________________ Don't be stoooopid. |

Yeah, face planting with goggles would really suck.
It was just a joke...

Back in an old launch mag, they had a picture of andrew cairns riding with some spex goggles.
Anyway, I ride with contacts and I've never had a problem. Although, when I first learned how to wakeboard I took some face-plants to eye peelers, which sucked. But I don't recall losing any contacts and at that point, I may not have been wearing them. At any rate, I'd have to wear them because my timing would be all off. Sometimes you have to re-adjust, but it's a small price to pay in exchange for vision and water fun. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |
