| Haha, itr's funny to see how Cassette has changed. Thomas originally started it as the Liquid Force wakeskate line. It was still called Cassette but it wan't it's own entity. I can't remeber the year, maybe ElectricSnow can help with it, but he decided to try and start on his own, carrying his own designs, shapes, and distribution. Thus the Cassette we know and love now was born. I had a wakeskate back in the day, it was the Yelloiw (i think 40") Liquid Force Cassette skate, wish I hadn't gotte rid of it now. |

Liquid Force had a model in 1999 called "The Sponge" (which was the very first wakeskate I rode back in the day!) It had traction pads and no pop what so ever but most people who rode wakeskates at the time, thought it was a killer board because it was kinda soft and you wouldn't get hurt if it hit your shins.
Cassette started with the first wooden wakeskate year 2000 with the "Cassette 41" (and later on the "Cassette 45") Great pop and better control (because of the wood and the griptape top) Most people I know were kinda scared because all of a sudden you could actually hurt yourself wakeskating... (imagine that...)
If I remember correctly those boards where distributed by Liquid Force as a side project. Thomas was also a part of the LF team back in the day and appeared in some LF ads together with Shane, Necrason and even Emily Copeland!!!! (I think, at the time, he wanted to find a way to distribute his own boards in the future which he also later did a.k.a Linear Distribution/Cassette Wakeskates) Probably a smart move by Thomas to use LF 's channels and corporate thinking. I think LF had the Cassette distribution until 2002 and that Linear took form in '03 (but I might be mistaken on that specific year.)
Slyder, the yellow one was probably Cassette Series 41" from '01. (I rode the same model at the time...)
(correct me if I'm wrong, electricsnow. ) _________________ _____________________________

LF advertised for cassette too. And I believe they mentioned they help design the boards.
it was a weird relationship |

Basically it is a shop that doesn't know their product. They just know they have to have them to be cool.
You can read the whole story about Cassette and Liquid Force here:
