I really dont expect many of you to read the entire thing, but if you are intrested in religion, especially catholic religion, and if you are involved in it i advise you read this and maybe think about what you are doing in life as a catholic. and please some1 prove me wrong on theses few subjects. i would love to debate.

Catholic Contradictions

In the Bible there is much valid evidence against the Catholic teachings. Scripture blatantly states numerous doctrines, but then the Catholic church and its teachings clearly conflict with the doctrine cleanly embedded in the bible it self. We are to follow the teaching of the Bible, Gods written word. Not the words and teachings of man.
The Catholic church has a belief in a ridiculous saying “saved by works alone”. It states that good sacrament are necessary for salvation. Also it is said if you do good deeds throughout your life, you will be saved from the fiery furnace of hell. Now if you follow and read the bible, it actually says that salvation is a gift from God. Not to be earned by doing good things. The only thing that can save you from the entirety of hell is faith, and faith alone. Good works should automatically arise showing your Christian heart and love, not just for entrance to heaven. A passage from Ephesians 2:8-9 says “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Obviously even if the catholic teachings say you are saved by works alone, you should obey Gods solemn word before any.
Another odd paradox of the Catholic religion is that Mary, the mother of Christ is taught to be a mediator between man and God. In Timothy 2:5 it states “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus”. The Catholic teachings also state that Jesus Christ was an only child birth from the virgin Mary. But it is quite the contrary, Matthew 13:55-56 “Is this not the carpenter's son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? "And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?” and Mark 6:3 "Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?" And they were offended at Him.” Both of these passages distinctly prove that Jesus Christ did in fact have several siblings, brothers and sisters. Mary is also worshiped as the Blessed Virgin in the Catholic Church, but the bible fails to mention anything about worshiping Mary.
That fallacy above leads to the next false Catholic doctrine. In many Catholic churches you can find the at the alter large statues and sculptures of Mary, and other saints and idols. More times the statues of Mary and the saints are much larger then Christ. I understand that not all Catholic churches contain this idols but it does happen. Most Catholics do not worship Mary or the saints. They pray to them to intervene on their behalf with God assuming that they are in heaven. Many of the saints that are prayed to may not even be in heaven as the backgrounds of many Catholic-made saints are suspect. They must have been born again. Only God knows if someone is born again. In Exodus 20:4-5 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me.” Praying to Mary or the saints is a useless action, God is the only sovereign being that should ever be praised or prayed to. Mary and the saints are simply men. This next fallacy is quite peculiar. Catholics actually remove the second commandment while they are teaching the Ten Commandments. The second commandment says summed up, you will not have any false idols before God and you will not pray or praise anyone but God.

The Pope is said to be the “head of the church” although there is no head of the church found in the New Testament. Catholics also like to use the adjective infallible to describe the Pope. But the Pope is only a man, just as we are all only mere men. We are all the same in Gods eyes. One not better then the next. The Catholic adoration for the Pope is complete idiolatry. Thinking that this man is better then the rest. The Pope is a simple man with earthly power, but has the same temptations and fleshly desires as the rest. Peter, thought of as the first Pope, did not allow others to bow before him as Acts 10:25-26 states: “As Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him. But Peter lifted him up, saying, "Stand up; I myself am also a man.”
Catholic Priests and Bishops are absolutely forbidden to be bound in marriage. They must be completely celibate, without sex. The Bible shows in several books that Bishops can in fact marry and produce offspring.1 Timothy 3:2-4 reads the exact characteristics of a bishop. “A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence”
A long quarrelsome subject of the Catholic religion is of course the myth of Purgatory. According to the Catholic, Purgatory is the final purification or punishment of the elect after death, for all who died in God's grace but are impure, so that they might achieve the holiness to enter heaven. The Bible has no mention of a middle ground, New Testament or Old. At death your soul goes to Heaven or Hell, there is no final purification or purgatory. Romans 2:5-11 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who will render to each one according to his deeds: eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness-indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For there is no partiality with God. If you are simply saved, and trust in God and Christ you will go to heaven. Hebrews 10:10 says, “By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all”. The doctrine of Purgatory teaches that Christ's atonement for our sins on the cross was not sufficient for our salvation, we have to go through a purification cycle that is unnecessary and obviously false.
An uncommon ritual of the Catholic religion is the abstinence of meat on Fridays. Many do it but more often the older and more dedicated acolytes of the church. During lent also meat should be terribly abstained. The Bible says that abstaining from foods is the doctrine of the demons.1 Timothy 4:1-3 “Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.”
In conclusion the only way to the Lord our God is though faith, and faith alone. Deeds, rituals, and idolatry will not automatically give you a seat in heaven. If you have a heart for God and believe deep with in that Jesus died on the Cross for us then that is all you need. Denounce all this silly mockery of the Lord, and the ridiculous counterfeit rituals and routine. God loves everyone, rich or poor, big or small, unattractive or beautiful, Obese or slim. God will never leave your side.

Yes, that is why I don't consider myself Catholic (even though I'm baptized Catholic). There are too many rituals and things you "must" do to attain salvation. Like confession, I don't feel comfortble confessing my sins to another person, if I want to confess I'll so it through prayer. The no meat on Friday thing was originally established by the Church just as a sacrifice to make during Lent if you didn't sacrifice anything else, sort of a standard. If you sacrifice something during Lent that is something that you usually can't live without then you don't necesarily have to sacrifice eating meat. Now everyone thinks you have to not eat meat and they don't question why (and for most that's all they give up for Lent). All these other Chrisitian sects (and this is just my feeling) throw in all this other crap into Christianity that isn't necessarily what Jesus taught and make it into more of a job with rules you have to follow and certain things you have to do.

freerider4, if you read the bible there is a verse in Romans 1-2, ill try to find it, that disproves Atheism. All human beings know there is a higher being. Even if some one claims to be an athiest they know deep down inside there is somthing out there. So Scripture in face proves that Athiests do NOT exist at all.

jboss, You say u dont consider yourself Catholic, although u are Baptist Catholic? you mean by blood? Excuse me? If you mean... your parents brought you up Baptist Catholic, or they just are Baptist Catholic, thats wrong, you arent a any religion by just your blood, you have to have mind and will power. Just because my father was a Catholic doesnt mean i am. In fact im not any sect, im just a bible beliving follower of the lord. thats all that god requires, not all these silly rituals and sect religions that beat around the bush and over exaggerate things terribly.

-=AlexXx=-, No I'm not a Baptist and I'm not Catholic, I was baptized Catholic when I was a baby, I just consider myself Christian if anything.

About the Atheist thing, you're right. I don't think anyone doesn't believe there is some being that we can't see or comprehend. Atheists also have a conscience to tell them what's right and wrong, so they know deep down subconsciously that there is some kind of higher being out there.

P.S. When it comes to religion, you can't prove or disprove anything, it's all on faith.

-=AlexXx=-, does the bible really prove anything? or is it just a book? i mean sure sometimes things in the bible are good to hear, but aren't things in Go Dog Go good to hear? couldn't i start a "religion" based on a bunch of stories that i think have some meaning to them? i'm not saying that the bible, God, or Jesus isn't real. but sometimes the bible can be trippy as hell. I go to a catholic high school and it's funny how my teachers will call one thing out in the bible as the complete truth, but then another thing is completely wrong? how can that be if it's supposedly all the word of God?

does that make sense to anyone but me? haha

-=AlexXx=- I can tell you I don't beleive in a higher being. and I don't use a 2000 year old book to substantiate my claim.

-=AlexXx=-, you should maybe talk with a priest(s) and ask the questions to a qualified person to really answer them if you truely want a real answer..... and i would probably recommend asking other priests that are from a different parish for your second opinions...

I am a Catholic and have been since I was born. I just got confirmed last year ( I was 2Cool a little late. I would also advise talking to a priest, or try going to www.ewtn.com and posting it on their Q& A section. Im not educated enough to answer your questions. Laughing I do know that the bible talks about a "Queen of Heaven" who is Mary, and your right she is not worshiped just prayed to.

I got to a catholic school and lately I'm feeling that I'm only going to church cause my parents make me. I disagree being brought up that way just because its kind of "passed on" by the family. I am still a Catholic and beleive in Catholisim except for a few things. I feel like most people are scared into a religion and I don't think thats right. Also I have a teacher for a bunch of my classes and he is the best teacher I've ever had. He knows so much about injustices and religions and rituals and everything around the world. He hitchhiked like all over the world and lived in Africa for a year, and while he was there helped to start a circus to provide jobs for people there. Anyways, when he has to teach us in religion class, it seems like he tries to stay as far away from the book as possible because I don't think that he likes the way they teach us. He says that there's so much he wants to tell us but can't because its not in the system and he'd get in trouble. It makes me wonder what is out there about religion that people don't talk about.

dietwater5 I live to have a good life. I live by the philosophical concept of humanism I live for this life i'm not living for an afterlife because I don't beleive in it. I try to live everyday to the fullest by helping myself have a great life and other people have a great life. It seems the idea of there not being a god terrifies you.
