Hey did you guys see the rumor in part 6 of the Jason Messer interview. Wasn't there an article on this making it a fact? _________________ dbanana wrote:

| It could be true, but wakeskating isn't that dangerous of a sport, it's probably one of the less dangerous sports out there. Oh yea, I think I read an artile of some kid that died wakeskating in a ditch somewhere, but from what I remember it wasn't the wakeskating that directly did it. |

Just so you know, I'm pretty sure that rumor jason's referring to would be from 2000 or so, possibly slightly earlier. Basically when all of the wakeboarding companies were making soft wakeskates (hyperlite waterskate, liquid force sponge).
And a couple of years ago a guy broke his femur wakeskating and died from a blood clot. But you can get hurt doing anything, and if you're sitting still long enough, a blood clot isn't out of the question. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Good point esnow. I broke my femur 2 years ago, and it's easy to bleed to death if the bone compound fractures or takes out a major artery. I'd rather go that way then to die in a car accident or pnemonia. So you can be careful; but how far are you willing to cross the line to better yourself. I must say I ride more conservative now; but I still search for the feeling of pulling a new trick. That's one of the best feelings. _________________ dbanana wrote:

Hitting a w2w indy shuv on a turn. I was riding the light ass evil Hype Grubb(parot) with no fins. Needless to say I ride fins now. I think it was because the boat was turning and the board was shuving and when I touched down on the other wake, the board just kept going and took my front leg with it. I was bailing and it was weird because I couldn't fall. Then it stood me straight up and spiral fractured that joker into 3. Death to EVA. _________________ dbanana wrote:

| cassette315, i learned to sur in hawaii. let me tell you they surf some gnarly shizzle. i was surfing some small waves (considering it was winter) but they were still pretty solid and it was shoulder deep water with gnarly jagged reef on the bottom. one bad fall and hitting your head on a rock and you are done. i got so torn up. im not planning on surfing there again till im a little better. |

this is a funy story considering it involves someone dieing. it also has nothing to do wiht boarding but whatever anyways there was a guy who wanted to kill himself so he hung drank poison and started himself on fire then hung himself over a cliff then while he was hanging he was going tomshoot himself but he missed and hit the rope and he fell into the icy water and the fire went out and he was so cold he threw up the poison and then he died of hypothermia.
