Hey,
Ok this is like such a newb question I think... but, I was reading the new Alliance Mag and like all the skaters (byerly, GD, Walton and even Stef Tor)... they all said that they ride on a 75ft. line length....
Like I ride on like 65 and anytime I try to go longer back I cant clear toeside... I think I need to bump my speed up abit anyway, so maybe the faster speed will help (with proper edging of cource)
but what line length do you guys ride at? |

I ride at 65 too, I shortened it to go w2w easier, make m edging faster and more responsive, and make skate-style tricks easier. How fast do you ride? Cuz I ride t around 20 and I like that best. _________________ I like to choke when my team needs me the most, no Romo. |

Does anyone ride @ 75 finless? i think if i used fins ts w2w would be a little easier.
I ride at 70 ft. for a while though I was riding at 75. When I try 65ft I cant seem to pop my ollies off the wake (natique w/ballast) and it turns into a disaster... so i went right back to 70+ _________________ integrity-wake.com | chriscut.com |

70 is my sweet spot as well and have experienced what Chris Barcellos is speaking of. I plan on moving to 75. _________________

I only ride at 60 going about 21-22, but from what you guys are saying it looks like i should lengthen the rope and speed it up _________________ when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

I say ride how you ride. For a while i was worried about speed and line length but then I realized that no one rides just like me so I should be the one with the say of where i want my rope.
If your landing your tricks at 65 then who cares what everyone else is doing. Do you really want to change anything ???? I say jump w2w at one speed, do lip tricks at another speed, hit rails at another speed. Do what you like not what "pro's" are doing. |

I don't know if this is true, but I read somewhere that the Catalyst cable is 80ft (that I lnow for sure) what I don't really know is if it goes any shorter than 80ft. cuz that would be crazy riding that far back, the rider would look like an ant from the boat.
I ride a 65ft going about 22mph. it seems good. |

I noticed that also......75' I dunno if I could clear the wakes with that length. I like 65', I've noticed though as it's already been said; with a longer rope it's easier to do other stuff. Inside out tricks are much easier if you lengthen the rope to say 75'. W2w is easier with a shorter length. Have fun with it. _________________ dbanana wrote:

I think it's 80ft too...plus 5 ft from the handle...that's like...85 ft
I might be wrong though...
EDIT: If you watch Grubby's section in Welcome, if you look at some of the over head shots (the heli ones) you can tell he's way back there. |

Yes, the Catalyst Cable is 80Ft. and does go shorter all the way to 65Ft. in 5Ft. increments(sp?)..
When I first got that line, I rode all the way back at 80Ft. and went around 20-21 behind a '05 VLX. Then I realized I had to go about 23-24 just to try and clear the wake. But that speed helped me anyway on tricks all around cause I was used to riding behind PWC's at that speed. _________________ Scuba Steve's Wakeskate Film Libray |
