Wake Videos...

I just finished watching Robot Food productions new video "afterlame" and I started to think that there is so much more to a snowboarding video than a wakeboard/skate video... I find that wake videos need alot more to it then just fancy editing and riding... In afterlame for example I found that a bunch of lifestyle/blooper stuff really made it interesting to watch, and would make me watch it over and over again... I'm not rippin on any wake videos out there but they all seem the same as they follow the same story board... Intro, rider, rider, rider, etc. then credits...

I've found that trying to explain this was way harder than I thought Laughing

but for those who kinda understand what I'm saying, whats your opinion on wakeskating/boarding videos of today???

But yes i know what you mean, afterlame is my favorite snowboard video, the editing was great, soundtrack was good, and i love the lifestyle shots.

snowboarding videos are for sure more developed than wake stuff. but if you think about it they have so much more that they can work with...they dont have to worry about a chase boat being too close or crap like that. just set up a tripod, learn how to pan smoothly, set your white balance and bam, youre off.

yeah, afterlame is dope. its just really damn fun to watch. i think if i wanted to turn someone on to snowboarding that would be the first video i showed them (that i have, at least). but if you look at stuff like Paradox you got guys in helicopters shooting super slow mo close ups on film and it looks just drop dead gorgeous.

in the end i think that snow and skate vids will always have an upper hand on wake stuff beacuse of the ability to shoot from anywhere.

i kinda do wish that people would stop using songs by the faint. as much as i love that band its like.....move on. i did like that mars volta track in the final section of paradox, though Very Happy

ha hottdoggon, that was horrible at first. now like 2 years later i really like it. so repetive, same trick 3 or 4 times, but i will still pop it in every now and then and watch it. but yes wakeskate movies could get beter,

The sponsor intro to Afterlame is the sickest thing I've ever seen... like from real video to digtal or how ever they did that...

ALOT of people on the "other" wake sites beach and moan about lifstyle stuff in their vids, they just want invert after invert etc. Its been discussed alot.
I personally think a video should have a good mix(fluff) it makes a video more fun to watch when you can laugh at the riders being jackasses.
I dont think it has anything to with the age of the sports either cause skate and snow flicks from the early 90's were filled with all kinds of random shizzle

RUSSIAN, yeah i agree with you... i think its better to have lifestyle in the wake vids because it shows more than just the riders talent, it shows their personality, lifestyle, etc.

I like seeing wreck and blooper sections in wake vids however in Such is Life I could have done without seeing people riding a subway, a cross flash at me in Nunns section or any of the other various random scenes.
