dave chappelle checked into a mental institution in africa on april 28 because he "hears voices". production of the chappelle show has been postponed until further notice. he expects to be in the institution for about 6 months.

That was all a lie he came out and said he is in south africa just getting some time away because he did not like the way the show was being run by comedy central.

the reason why he left was because he was getting stressed out about all the fame... when he started the show he thought no one would really like it, but then it caught on and then the fame just kept coming and coming.. he just went to a quiet place in south aferica to get his mind straight and that does not mean he is in a mental institute. dave does not hear vioces either... the show is up to him if he wants to resign the contract.. he already has a family and problaly wants to focus on that.

I also heard it was cause he was losing creative control. I could definitely notice that because I definitely noticed a difference in the stuff from season 1 and season 2.

he went to S.Africa b/c he was getting alot of pressure form Comedy Central to tone down his content, b/c the FCC is really trying to crack down on cable(fiznackling Janet Jackson) anyways why S.Africa IDK, but I bet Comedy Central wouldnt really wanna go down there to find him Id bet. . . .I heard it on XM Radio they were interviewing some friends of his that are comedians and work for Comedy Central as well. . .appearantly they are trying to get Crank Yankers to tone down too
