Apparently at the game today, some guy blew himself up just outside our stadium. They found more bombs and had to detonate them. Pretty crazy stuff... I was at the game, but didn't notice the explosions considering the Ruf Neks have shotguns and shoot them off several times a game so I probably didn't think anything of it when it happened.

It's crazy though, b/c they didn't even tell us what happened. Someone called one of my roommates and asked if he had heard anything about it at the game. We were told not to go through the South Oval on the PA saying that our school's President and local law enforcement requested it. |

Yeah, turns out the guy was a junior enrolled here, and has had some previous emotional problems (depression). What's crazy is that we parked right in front of his apartment before the game (we had no idea who he was since this was before he did this, and we normally park there because it's free), and now they had to move everyone out of the complex while the police is doing their investigation.
I'm just glad that no one got hurt and that this wasn't an act of terrorism (I seriously doubted that it was terrorism in the beginning, but you never know until you have all the facts) |

hammer49, he wasn't around anyone when he did it, and no one was hurt in the blast... his intent could have been to hurt a lot of people, and he could have blown prematurely, who really knows? On the other side, he could have been just trying to make a statement, and doing it in a public place would do this. It's sad that no one heard him before this. |
