Well before i attached the barrels and the up-part, I put the flat section on the barrels in the water for testing. Side to side it seemed quite sturdy. I will be adding one more barrel in the middle on monday I think, just in case. It really isn't necessary, but will make it stronger. Waiting on some people to come over, then we carry it down for testing! I can't freaking wait
The rail material is actually a foot wide. Mainly because... I didn't feel like cutting the material. But it should be good, I'll be able to get pretty tech on it since its so forgiving.

She works! Very well actually. 50-50 and boardslide no problem. Only had 4 runs at it and then my buddy had to leave though.
I'll be adding one more barrel in the middle on monday for sure. You could notice it sinking down a bit when you rode on, so one more barrel should fix this.
And... the cost of this rail you might ask? $11 CDN. (Free lumber and barrels - just had to pay for some screws and strapping to attach the barrels)

Free lumber, because I busted down some old shed/barn thing in the woods on our property.
Attach the barrels was super easy. Just bought 2 packs (10 feet each) of galvonized steel strapping (used quite often in docks) which you can find at pretty much any hardware store. 2 strips of strapping per barrel going across them, and into the 2x4 rail base.

How stable is it? I have 4 of those barrels but haven't been able to come up with a rail that needed a monster amount of plywood to skirt it. I considered doing something like that, but thought that it would be way too unstable.
Also...did you put any water in the barrels?
