Riding on salt water, there arent as many places that are flat water as on a lake. I found a new spot were its serious glass tho, its pretty secluded from open water. Anyways, I was thinking about building a rail, maybe just a flat, or a small A-frame. Ive never hit one before, so I want to build something I can start out on and still progress. If anyone has any suggestions on what materials to use, such as sliding surface, ect., or any plans, let me know.

Thanks

first off, you should get a flat rail cuz an a frame is pretty limiting, meaning its harder to progress on. i would use treated wood for the frame and two 4" pvc pipes for sliding surface.

i was gonna try to get a few crates like maybe 3 or 4, take some un-needed pieces off of them to make them lighter, get plexi-glass and place it over top, and then put all the pieces together in one, then build supports on all 4 corners and 2 in the middle....not sure how well it would work out though, I haven't tried it yet

Schimkat, I like your avatar. I ride on salt water also, we have built 3 rails. One is a 3/4 rainbow over an old jet ski hull, that is the best one because it's portable and you can ride up it and shuv off the end or do just about anything. We had a flat bar on stilts(4x4's) it was short and didn't last very long. This year I built a long kicker over a marsh point and it is fun, and sketchy. It's nice for shuv outs and I almost got the bs 180. We used salt treated lumber, and veranda decking wood and I started with a blacksmith hammer and drove in some supports, be sure to make the ends pointy. Drive those jokers into the ground and keep adjusting them until your top plank(2x12) sits flush. Then screw that biatch on there get her wet and then have her your way. Good luck, we are getting to build an A frame or rainbow over two jet ski hulls, I can't wait toshow some pics of that , coming next month. What would be more fun, A frame or rainbow?
