What advantages does grip tape have?

My 1st board has foam and I just started wakeskating...what advantages does grip tape have?

better grip, and it feels more solid. The only disadvantage is it hurts more if you fall on it, but who really gives a sh¡t about that anyway.

um, people that don't like pain? i use grip but some people might prefer dodging pain if possible.

i have never gotten grip burn so far. grip is better. i demoed a foam board and it was too slippery for me

major plus for grip is that it's thin too, you are more in contact with your deck.

basically grip tape makes you look really cool, and people will be like "wow,he rides with griptape, he must be a really good wakeskater" and you'll say "yeah i think i might go pro next year" and they will say "really, that is awesome!" and you will say "yeah i am soo cool, you should all adore me because i can wakeskate really good, and you sons of bitches can't, and if you talk smack about me or wakeskating, just know i've got the whole wakeskating.com crew backing me up"

Do you guys all really think Grip tape as more grip then foam??

I ride grip and one reason is Foam feels too grippy for when moving my feet into positions. It felt fine in the air as well. Must just be me, I dunno. I rode a Foam byerly, then gripped it.

foam isnt grippier, it just suctions to your feet more. which in my opinion sucks. it seems like the bottom of you feet stick to the bottom but its not a controlable stickiness so it sucks. the grip is consistent and you are closer to the board and have more feel cause the grip doesnt give in like foam. grip does hurt though..but it leaves good looking scars so the girls love it. its just the manly thing to do.

Actually I'm more scared of riding foam since it's much easier to get your foot caught on it during a good ol' split...

i've done the layback splits so bad, my grip skinned my back. it was worth it though. bummer it uckedf up my tan. grip makes your board seem wider to. more contact area.
