integrity640, ive been on the FIT campus and it looked quite sucky.
i live very close to FAU and it is in a great area. they also have some very good professors, because many professors from ivy league schools come down to Florida when they retire and teach at FAU for something to do. |

I can't afford college in florida, or any other state , but next year I am going to try and do the whole "get out of school to go look at colleges" deal and hit up some colleges in florida so I can ride down there...I'll be looking at them in the winter _________________

Jonesie, financial aid and scholarships really go a long way.
Also, if I were to do it all again, I would have probably taken more community college courses (they are really inexpensive) before I got up here to Oklahoma. |

Well, you can definitely get loans if you parents dont make too much, but it just depends on your situation and what school you go to. My parents make a pretty decent living but most of my schooling is paid for from scholarships.
Being an honor student helps a lot, being involved, having a job, playing sports all look good on your resume.
Apply for every scholarship that you qualify for to the schools you want to go to. |

Jonesie, My girlfriend got a helluva lot of money. She's going to Stetson for free (private college, expensive). So if you work at it, it is completely worth it.
I just went through all of this same stuff. I've been in class at FSU for 4 days now and up until I actually started to apply at places, I had no clue what I was doing. I'm not saying I'm an expert of anything (far from it) but if you have questions I can try to help out.
Basically, just do what senorbueno, said to. |

Im a senior in hs this year and FIT is my top choice then FAU so if anyone has any info... pm me. I heard FIT is a dude school not a whole lotta girls, but what would you expect from a math/engineering/science school... the little liberal arts private colleges are where you find the hot chicks. |

Jonesie, from my experience graduating from high school this year your GPA has little to do with scholarships and bursaries. I had the highest GPA in my class along with several extra curricular activies and you wouldn't believe how many people got chosen over me for scholarships and bursaries who I knew were not only, not planning on continuing onto post secondary education, but who were also less qualified academically. It became evident that it wasn't how hard you worked or what you knew, but rather who you knew. This wasn't as apparent in the university scholarships but much more in the community bursaries. I'm not saying this will happen in your situation, because I do live in the Canada, but i'm just sharing my expereince.
Okay, i'm done. I had to vent, and yes I feel better. |

shane, I don't know, it helped me and some of my friends out a lot, but it is important to network and meet the people who are going to be giving out the scholarships. If they know you on a more personal level, it helps a lot, especially for getting internships and stuff. |
