building a winch

What size engine should i use to build my winch. How big does it need to be. (is a lawn mower engine big enough)

use one from a monster truck or on the other end of the scale use a ferrari engine. i dunno kentos the winch master here

I say your gonna need aboud 7-9 hp the more the better, the smaller the motor the shorter it will last, and if you search there are alot of topics on this if not pm me Ill be more than glad to help if I can
