inches. to short? i am almost done with my 34 inch concave skate. i think it will feel A LOT more like a skateboard. i realize that the speed of the watercraft will have to be upped but i still think it will work. or maybe im just hoping that my 145 pound frame will allow it to work. i cant wait to finish then try it. ill let you know if it works. but what do you think? _________________ YSC is so steezy...

BLP010, how wide is it? and whats the rocker platform like?
Those will be the real deciding factors on if it will ride well or not. _________________ arson-wake.com |

You might have some issues with the width... if you calculate the surface area that not a whole lot, but give it a shot and see what happens. _________________ arson-wake.com |

yeah, if it works then . but if it doesnt i will make one 35 or 36 inches long and 14.5-15 inches wide. i think it will do for wakeskating what LF's fish did for wakeboarding, IF it works. _________________ YSC is so steezy...

isnt that the way the industry is going? the bilevel is suppose to have a more skate feel to it, correct? or no? i think a smaller skate will allow for more flip tricks to be done. like heelflips possibly?! or "skate" style hardflips. just my .02. _________________ YSC is so steezy...

| it wont feel like a skateboard. the physics of wakeskating and skateboarding are totally different, with a small board you wont be able to find enough power to get any height on ollies. you wont be able to ollie it like a skateboard either, its just not the same. ive ridden a 35 inch skate and it was fun to mess around on, but it sucked. |

BLP010, I agree that in many ways we are trying to achieve a skate like feel to our boards, I have done that with Omen now for over a year in the designs on trial and error. I am in no way a engineer, although i have spent most of my life designing and building surfboards, snowboards and snowskates. There is no doubt in my mind that your board will ride... how good it rides on the other hand is still to be found out, but you get my praise on making the effort to build your own deck and try it out. BUT there are things you need to factor in to your design, the way the water will move over the board, buoyancy, rail shape and surface area... it really comes down to there is a general area we have stayed in the industry because this is what works but i agree there is still room for improvement... so keep building boards and see what works best for you... you may build something that everyone else hates, but if it rips for you then thats great...

SleuCrew, we need more people like you on ws.com. what you just said made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, seriously. b ut yeah this is the second skate ive made and my first one worked great. im stoked to try it and i guess im not that great at skateing but i love tinkering and making my own stuff. i hoping it works and i hope i can come up with other cool ideas and act on them. _________________ YSC is so steezy...

BLP010, Building stuff and riding it is the only way things evolve and progress... The more people are involved with board design and improvement will only help the sport grow in a positive direction... Like i have always said "wakeskating is ours, we make it what it is" this is the beautiful part of where our sport is and what will keep it from turning into something like wakeboarding or the hula hoop.
Support your scene, not theirs
If it was not for people like Jason Messer as well as many others we would more than likely not be at the place we are today.
There is a saying i look at everyday in my office...
