depends how much you are willing/want to spend.

also you have to really sit back and honestly evaluate how much you are going to play, because right now it might seem like a great idea to go ahead and buy the really expensive guitar, but in two months or less, will it still be the great idea you thought it was going to be?

dont get a squier!!! a good guitar to start out with is a mexican start or an epiphone. they are a little more but you will grow out of a squier or a guitar that comes in a pack very quick. you should spend about $350 on it. and then just get about a 20watt amp

packs are never good. my first guitar was a crate package with a crate amp. they arent even a guitar company. the guitar sucked and the pickups would only work half the time

hey andy, pick up a strat and you wont regret it. and then a little 50 watt $100 amp and youll be set. either go to a local shop, or dare i say, sam ash and pick up a strat for a cheap price. unless your getting a good stratocaster i wouldnt think it would be as much as 350. if you need to upgrade, you can throw some emg's in it and it'll kick ace. and if you have the choice. dont buy a wamme bar either. cause i saw it in the pic and it really doesnt work that well and keep in tune.

JamesBoardr, i had just put that on and didnt have any cutters, but i dont care about that anyways i usually wrap the extra around the other knobs. i dont know why you would need more than one guitar, one fender does everthing
