Does anyone have a video of a 540?
I tried them over a kicker.
But I didn't land one.
I only tried 2 or 3.

gay gay gay... like the 5's Grubb's doing off a kicker in Snap. Ugly as hell. I personally don't think wakeskating is about the whole "spin-to-win shizzle". Leave that to the wakeboarders. (as well as the inverts...) Smash

/agree

grub does one in snap but he rotates at least 180 on the kicker... most of the kicker rotations i've seen are half rotated on the kicker anyway ^^

but it still looked dope! and there has to be peeps doing them w2w.

it's a nice trick, but as Rob said it would suck if wakeskating took the spin to win road lol

Spins are still hard and technical tricks, but only if they are done off the wake or in the flats. Spinning on kickers is stupid IMO. I love watching Reed pop a huge fs 3 in the flats, but it makes me sad to watch grubb do one off a kicker where he does like the first 180 still on the ramp Rolling Eyes

But, that indy halfcab he does in F4A was huge Shocked

I like Reeds fs 3's as well but like I said, I'd hate it if we'll get a "spin2win" situation. After the 5, what's next? 7's, 9's? Wink Streetskating influences me more than vert skating..... I hate the whole "what can be done on a wakeskate" question at issue. Go out, have fun and don't make to much effort making your first 540. If your ego stills tells you to climb the ladder, land a 540 shuv and you'll impress me!

yeah but like a 540 can be done really smooth on a skateboard so i think it culd be done on a wakeskate too. but i agree with you.. i dont even like when grubb does a 360 but reed does the really cool so i just think it would be smooth with a 540 from reed

There was an article about a guy from South Africa a while ago on wakeworld and they had a video of him stickinŽ a 540 in the flats. IŽll try to find it on my other computer.

Grubb's spins look like wakeboard spins. Reed's look like skateboard spins. Simple as that.

Yeah I agree with Rob. I hope wakeskating doesn't become about spins or inverts. I guess I wouldn't mind it if people did them smooth though, but some 360's look so sloppy, so I imagine a 540 would looks nasty (in a bad way). Same goes for inverts.
Keep it technical, that's wakeskating IMO, and what I like. But if it is a good 540 or invert, then it's still awesome. Ex: w2w 540 is probably possible, but is should be smooth look 'good', not slop.

a w2w 540 would be amazing. you guys are on crack, wakskating won't fit into the narrow definition you guy's want it to. spins are already a part of wakeskating

i think the future of wakeskating will see the best riders develop both technical and w2w skills. i mean, at the rate wakeskating is developing...in 5 years i see it being very similar to vert-skateboarding...a mix of airs and technical lip tricks. i think a really good rider is someone who doesnt limit themsleves one way or the other.

headhuntermx4...agreed...just like there are riders like hawk or mcdonald (know for airs) vs. a rider like Renton Millar ...that kills on the lip tricks. it all comes down to rider preference...

but at the same time...my point is that riders like bucky lasek...and burnquest (sp??)...guys that can pull of the technical tricks and the air-based tricks deserve more respect. IMO.

I'm not talking about being a jack-of-all-trades but a master of none...im talking about being able to master both aspects....and not limiting your riding skills either way.

i don't think a 540 would look very smooth on a skate but damn it'd be tech. i'm looking forward to the day when people do stuff like w2w kickflip to indy, kick indy to blind, etc.
