So, today i went wakeskating. it was all good, taking stills and filming canoe-hitting. Then...... i got hit by a boat.
In my canal, you cant go past idle unless youre "not within 50 feet of shore", so we were riding in the middle and i was carving out to do an inside out and not really looking up (the last thing on my mind was having to look out for boats). i land a little ways out in the flats and remember seeing a hull then spinning underwater and wondering if i was alive, and if so, how much it was going to suck not being unconscious for this. i hit the front right quarter of their boat going 20-22 and they were going probably 25-30.
i surfaced, and spent a while trying to catch my breath from being winded. the pain caught up with me and i waded to shore. the guys who hit me were scared out of their pants and they were some redneck dickdogs. theyre supposed to yield to skiers... but they don't know that. they thought it was pretty cool that they ran me over. i was too busy contemplating the infinite alternative possible ways i could have been hit that would have caused my death to yell at them or get their information.
surprisingly, im not seriously injured. i think my rib might be broken and my leg's all swolen.

SO... I got owned.

it sucks cause i can't think about wakeskating without thinking about getting hit by boats.

sorry for writing a novel about it, but i had to get it out.

Yeah, you're lucky you didn't get chopped by the prop. You should be thankful ... but not I guess. You should sue the pants off them!

yea man that sucks. your lucky it wasn't any worse.

I have a similar story. on night it's like mid-night me and a couple of my friends decide to take the paddle boat out and go across the lake which is a good half mile. And this is at the lake of the ozarks which looks a lot like a river...a big river. anyway the paddle boat sucks big time and isn't working, we get about 3/4 of the way besides we decide to head back. because the paddle boat wasn't really doing much 2 of my friends jumped in and start pushing/pulling the boat. well of course with all of the open water, some boat manages to fly past us like just a couple feet away. turns out it was another friend of mine dad in his boat celebrating a bachelor(sp?) party for one of his buds, needless to say they were all pretty drunk. they attempted to tow us back to my dock which was just a disaster in its self.

yea.. i was up and riding. and i guess im thankful. but, its pointless. i got owned in one of very few possible non-lethal ways, and thats the way it is. but i cant help thinking about if i started carving out a spilt second earlier, in which case i would have gone under the middle and been hit by the prop.
im not into sueing people, and the guy didn't have the money anyway. he was scared though.

best part is, my board didnt have anything more than two scratches on the rails. its going to take me a while to work up the balls to use it again. and when i do ill be keeping my eyes ahead.

and thats the moral of the story; watch where you're going... and wear a pfd.... or full body protection... or something

Boats can hurt you. A couple years ago some kids from my school were out on a boart having a good time. The driver wasnt paying attention and ran over a lady swimming in the lake. THe lady was wearing i life vest so when she saw the boat comming she couldnt go under water. She got her arm chpped off by the prop and died. The kid who was driving and everyone on the boat are still tramatized to this day. Moral: Drive carefuly

man that sucks bro, I'm glad your ok.

Last summer we went out on a buddy's pontoon boat in the middle of the night, well we ran the battery dead with the stereo. We called the house and woke up someone with a boat. he came out of the 5mph zone and did not see us. about 20ft away from us he gunned it, right at us, and right at the last possible second they saw us and veered left. it was really really close(I could have reached out and touched the boat) and scared quite a few people
