man it's gorgeous outside here today.. my dad likes to call me when he is crossing the bridge over lake martin and call me to say " there's not a ripple as far as the eye can see... the fisherman are not even out today" = pavlov's dogs syndrome
i'm keeping my fingers crossed that there's no 1st day boat issues... taking some starter fluid and 2 bottles of HEAT for the fuel...

i'll try to take a bunch of pics and ya'll can tell me if i got the rope set up in a good spot etc.... it has a healthy lil wake at 18 mph or so.. and dial the rope in about 22 or 28 off.. 22 off is a leap from w2w

warlock, thats a great wakeskate boat you should have alot of fun with that boat for a long time.
I would say since you are learning you are ok slowing the boat down to where you are now and use the short rope, once you get comfortable speed it up some, and throw a 60-65ft rope out and drive your boat around and dial in your speed ie: < wake shape and size > to your rope length then go out and ride and get used to that speed, it will make learning tricks alot easier once you are ready.
The rest is personal preference, but you should be at about a speed of 20-22 mph... but adjust boat speed in rope length to what is comfortable for you, that most important.

Maybe I need a second pair of contacts, but does that say you might bring the skis too? Ohh the humanity!

The Day- we got to the boat around 1ish.. my buddy said he had put the 2 inch ball on the back of the suburban... opps, he grabbed the 2 5/8. we went to the hardware store, bought a ball, and big pliars... however the pliars only fit the nut for the 2 inch not the 2 5/8.. back to the hardware store... hook up the boat.. take it to the boat ramp... won't turn over... ??? battery dead, we right over to the marina.. got a hot battery? parts dept is closed.. got a battery pack? yes... we buy one.. it's not charge, and won't reach from the back of the burban to the boat.. i'm livid...go back to town, buy a hot marine deep cell mack daddy fu ckin battery.... get back to the ramp. go to put battery in.. it won't fit in the battery well... i about lose it... we get a hot pack from a fisherman.. still won't turn over.. hit the starter a few times w/ a wrench.. turns over.. almost starts for a while... never does... i looked at my buddy and said.. we're bustin out mom's pontoon boat.. and we did so we get in the pantoon.. i'm going to try this skate .. it starts.. we idle over and get in the dry suit... hop in on the edge and my buddy throws my shoes.. i walk over to get the 2nd one and step on a board nail goes in my foot... i'm really pissed now..
i get the other shoe on and take off.. got right up and road around getting the feel... there was ZERO wake to play on... so i just sorta got on the lip and did slides... went back and forth heal side, and toe side.. did some 180s, and had a little trouble w/ the first handle pass for a 360... sorta got it later... fell a few time, the boat took 5 mins to get back to you and yer freakin numb... skated agian after my buddy tried it.. i tried a few dock starts.. but that pontoon just ain't got it.. i'd have to take like 5 running steps for it to get enough speed i wouldn't sink.. i hit the board w/ both feet and rode away but feel over... all in all the wakeskating was awesome.. if we'd had anything go right all day.. the day would have been just kick ass all the way around.. so on our way home.. my buddies wife calls to let us know that if i hadn't had a tetnes(sp) shot in the last 5 years.. i need to go to the emergency room (her dad told her and he's a dr.) so i stop in at the hosptial after a handful of beers... sit for a few hours.. finally get in ... get a shot.. wait for so long i checked myself out and wouldn't even wait for the dr to stop in.. they wanted to sent me for Xrays i said, no thanks.. i'm paying my tab and leaving... to the gas station another 12 pack of corona.. was asleep on the couch by 11:30
i can't wait to go again... but i'm going a day early to get that mastercraft fired up correctly and not that half azz BS i did yesterday..
when they took my temp at the hospital, it was a degree and a half below normal 3 hrs after we had been in the water brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
