Hunter S. Thompson God rest your soul. You are a true American Hero and a literary giant. To all the Gonzo lovers out there and fans of Rum Dairies, and to those who have both love and distain for politics, now is the time to pay your respect. Remember, Alcohol and firearms don’t mix!

As soon as I got home from work, I hit the bottle and decided to pay respect to a genius. I have no idea what Hunter S. stood for, but I do know that “the road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom” – Blake. Was Hunter wise? Of course he was. Is offing your self wise? Of course not! So where does he stand? I have no idea!! Such is life……

I do know that a substance induced stream of consciousness can produce incredible results. I also know that being able to recount such events is a gift, and Hunter had just that…..

What follows is ramblings. It is free to you. You can either use it, add to it, or discard it. Consider it an Open Source script for a short film. If you have a film class and you need an idea for a script, what follows is yours. When someone asks, “where did you get the idea?” You can say, “the spirit of Hunter gave it to me……”

This idea was born when a guy was getting ready to watch a film at a brand new movie theatre. The dude took a piss, and the toilet flushed automatically. The dude went to wash his hands, and the sink turned on. When the dude went to dry his hands, the hand drier started blowing.

Now imagine 3 or 4 generations in the future. Things have become so automated that, subconsciously, when people go to dry their hands, they have no reason to question whether the drier is automated or not? Rather, they believe that the drier is controlled by their own free will.

I believe that we will reach a point where, things become so automated that when given the choice, people will choose to believe that they have Telekinetic powers to control objects over the reality that objects have control over them. As such, people will become unknowing slaves to technology.

Under such circumstances, a catastrophic event (a major power outage) may occur where all power will shut down, and people will have to face the harsh reality that they have NO control; people will shee-at their pants trying to come to grips with the fact that they are useless, and a comedy of errors will ensue…

If you can make the above work as an entertaining story, then you are a genius, and you know the types of places Hunter went to. Personally, I can’t begin to imagine the places Hunter S. was able to take his mind. He went to places far more queer than those expressed above. I am sure that most of us have been to such places; however, the difference was that he was able to recount the experience. That is why I pay my respect to him and appreciate his gift. No one else was able to do what he did.

Rock on!

only about a million times.....

"Where the Buffalo roam" with Bill Murray as Hunter is better. It's an older movie and is harder to find.

Bad, bad times... I started yelling when I heard the news.

Well, time to sit back and read his books again. It's a sad day.

Boooooooo.........damn, this sucks. I haven't cared at all about a celebrity death except Johhny Cash. God has to let him into heaven after all the hell hes been through. May the Good Dr. rest in peace. (pour a sip to the dirt for your dead homie)
