first off dont listen to skatethewake, in fact i think he needs to here what im about to say.

Dudes, it all depends on how much money you want to spend you probably will want a flat deck if your not that seriouse about it.

on the other hand if you want to get into it you might want to look into getting a integrity. they run about $300 but i promise you, you will never break it there freaking bulletproof and in my opinion they are the best wakeskates availble.

one problem that your going to have with a wood skate is that fact that they waterlog after a while, where as compresion molded boards dont. also the integrit has side walls that can be sanded down so that you can customize it to how you like to ride and what you think feels good.

another aspect of wakeskating that you might not know about is the fact that a co.. called kent sporting goods owns probably 90% of the wakeskating/wakeboarding market. the only co. that arent with them are rider owned companys such as integrity (as well as cassete and kampus) i know your probably thinking that with a big budget that companys should be able to produce a better skate then someone who doesn't have all that much money, which is usually true except in this case, I and others think that integs are the best, and people who disagree with me would probably choose one of the other 2 co. so do yourself a favor and buy a integrity wakeskate i promise you wont be dissapointed.

damn erich should give me a job.

One of my friends is around 5-10 and 225lb. He was able to get up on my integ (41in). For you a 43 or 45 inch skate would probably be more comfortable though (imo). Demo a lot of skates if you can.

as they all said, stay core: cassette - integrity - kampus

Now it all depends on your budget. But to get you started, any board from these 3 co will be perfect (the cheaper the better if your are not sure to be *hooked* on wakeskating)

Mr. Top Hat, i'm off my game today. a little known fact: i also have a gate. at my skill level or alcohol level, the board is not making that much difference. i will be getting a new board next season. i kind of want a new wakeboard (yeah i said it) i'm still riding an old school bad ass.

kf_dk, get a CWB Lucky

Are the CWB Tribute skates any good? I like the Van Halen guitar graphics.

PIRATE, I support Integrity as well as cassette and kampus. I only suggested the 116 because you could pick up an '03 (possibly even new) for cheaper than many other skates and it would last a long time (molded) and I have ridden it and it is pretty long, which is good for a man of such stature as kf_dk.

Is Hyperlite the wakeskating.com whipping boy just because they are a very large company? They still make good boards, even though there are so many crap rumors of them coppying designs and just being called "ghey" and stuff like that.

Yes, I can support the "smaller" (not really small, but not massive, just less large) companies that probably will some day be just as big or bigger than Hyperlite because they create great boards too.

It all comes down to the fact that we all wakeskate, but can still have our own preferences.

I have ridden 2 smaller flats and concaves, a Scape 109 and a Lf concave 41(?) and for more lip-oriented stuff, they are maybe even more fun than a big board that "fits" you according to the person who doesnt even know that much in the local pro shop.

Just get a wakeskate that is generally long and skinny, has a grippy surface on top, and possibly two holes in each end for fins.

headhuntermx4, Im not the one looking for a new skate. I think you meant kf_dk.

wow, your a big guy...as much as i like kampus...id say get a cassette flat deck cause you can get em longer...im just under 200 and 6'0 and I ride a Kampus k39 which i LOVE...so if your interested in a good board for technical stuff...then id say get a k41 which u can get for about 80 bucks and they absolutely rock...they are good for technical stuff cause their wide and even if you got a big foot you can still land on it comfortably...but if you just want to ride around and pop the wake and stuff then get the cassette
