Hey

I've been thinking bout doing some comps and stuff around the east coast this summer, but I guess you could call me a "sheltered" rider because I only ride with a few people and they are pretty much the only I see. Honestly, and i know some people are gonna bash me, but i think itd be cool as he11 to get sponsored after throwing down a sick run.

I really wanna know what the guys at comps and stuff are pulling. I mean i'm pretty decent, alright on rails and rails, throw just about all the variants of shuvs, soooo close to being consistent on a kickflip ( I dont like saying I can do something until I can land it 2 out of 3 times)...and decent on lip tricks(not the best cause i tend to underthrow a shuv off)... but some of you guys who do these give me some input.

peace

Have fun on your board and don't worry about free stuff. If it's meant to be, it'll be...

bama, HEY man if anyone heres you i do. i wouldn't be worried abuot getting sponsored cause remember getting free stuff doesn't make you a beter wakeskater.

but i think that you should enter comps if yu want i mean im going to florida for pro tour and i suck i dont care if i dont do good i just think that it will be fun. I know that this sounds cheasy but im going to florida for the comp but i guarentee you that i'll have more fun then any of those other guys and thats all that matters. if i throw my run and get dead last then oh well? all you can do is your best.

what comps were you thinking about doing? what would be your run?

if u cant land big tricks like big spins and shuv in and shuv outs consistantly ull have no chance...not to burst ur bubble but its hard as hell...local tampa contests are getting to be as good as most tour riders...look at nick taylor...he kills it and didnt win a single one of the bliss comps

Thanks guys, I mean i can throw a 360 shuv about 80 % of the time. Thats my best most consistent move cuz i pop it high. I am good off the lip too but can't really keep struggling with a shuv off. So I just dont know yet, and i've never seen ANYBODY ever do a run in a comp so i dont really know what i should be looking to put together...not copy somebody's run but get a general idea of how it goes. Like I said...I am really sheltered when it comes to wakeskating...me and my boys just do it for fun and nobody around us does it. Yo, headhunter i know local comps can be good, but in not in Tampa, im in fricking boon docks VA. And there are prollly 97 % more boarders in florida then the mid east coast. And i've never tried a bigspin on a skate...but since i looked at this post i just went out and started killing it on my skimboard ( if you want to practice without a boat, get a skimboard and 3 slip and slides Very Happy hook em together and there ya go)

pssht pro tour....naww...I can't invest the money and time in that without knowing how im gonna stack up against guys around my area. Hey man its good to have somebody with the same thing on their mind.

As far as the free stuff goes, im not really worried about that...but if i got some sponsors that would spread wakeskating around the school more, cause i know their are a ton of reallly talented wakeboarders and street skaters around that would kill on a wakeskate, cause right now nobody really takes it seriously, its more of a thing to do when your not wakeboarding.

Bama, I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but why leave it to the sponsors to spread wakeskating at your school? Take some interested kids riding or something...ultimately, it's up to us to involve the right people...we're the ambassadors, you know?

Anyway, good luck with your riding...

hahaha...right on pirate...walk the plank bro

right, but like I said until people see that wakeskating is a SPORT in itself and not just a branch off of wakeboarding it will never be taking serious by the majority of wakeboarders and skters at my school...and man i get bashed big time tho by the boarder guys when i take em out and they are like wtf you got your ballast set up small and all...and im like yea, thats the way i like it haha
