Liptrick Video Contest

So this is a carry over from Nicks thread where I mentioned the idea and E-Snow encouraged it.

Would you guys be interested in participating in a best Liptrick Line Contest? It would be all online, video submission.

We can set it up here on wakeskating.com and start accepting video submissions in say a month or so. This gives people in colder climates a chance to ride and participate as well. Keep the submissions open for a week or two.

Videos must be uploaded to youtube/vimeo and again must be a continuous clip with no cuts or edits other than music if desired. The 1 minute countdown begins at the first trick.

Any other members interested in this?
Other ideas or input?
Would you participate?
Maybe we could get some of the OG liptrick masters involved as judges?

I updated this with a poll, please answer accordingly so we can plan this thing out.

If this gets enough traction I'll look into getting some prizes lined up for the top 3 entries Smash

If this takes off, I would say lets open submissions June 1st and all entries need to be in by Monday June 8th midnight PST. This would give those riders in colder climates a chance to particpate and get something submitted as well as round up some prizes.

So i understand traditional lip tricks/waterdancing--should this include re-entry moves also?

I want to say yes to re entry but at the same time I feel it should be a no. Seadoo's/ jet skis don't have a re entry wake, same with Jon boats. So to keep it a level playing field I would say no and leave it just to lip tricks.

If you want to hit the other wake to mix up front side and backside you can but it still needs to be one continuos edit/clip and you still have 1 minute from the time of the first clip.

Of course this is up to the masses so everyone can chime in with there thoughts. I was just trying to keep it simple.

If this takes off, maybe we can start a regular web edit contest series on here and every 2 months have it be a different event/category.

If the videos are a minute long then is it a best lip trick line contest or a best single lip trick?

Best 1 min video overall.

Still figuring out how to judge it, maybe have everyone vote for the best videos and then the top 3 will be judge by a special OG panel of lipstick forefathers.

Judging should be based on tricks done, lines linked/flow, style and creativity. If 1 minute seems short, maybe bump it up to a minute and a half?

I think it is a great idea and should include re entry…..anything that creates a lip and allow the rider to be as creative as possible…I look forward to seeing some killer lines!

For me, it's still part of a lip trick line--i guess just a difference of opinion. You might not be dancing on it, but your poping up off of it. I don't see inside out tricks the same way and agree with not having those in the contest. But i think re-entry moves flow well in a lip line. I'm fine either way, but i'd love to see them included, especially to see what some of the elite dudes could throw.
