I love this edit. In general, I love the style the WM dudes have to their videos. Even for this tige submission, they still have their own vibe to it.

I'm not huge on making the artistic side of wakeskating into a competition. Although that being said and knowing how crucial it is to capitalize on any opportunity to make some much needed cash in our industry; Drew and Aaron did a phenomenal job with respecting the artistic side and still abiding by this contests rules... they put a lot of work into that video and from what I've seen from the other submissions so far they definitely seem the most deserving of a reward for their hard work. Honestly at this point currently in the contest if they didn't enter I don't think anyone deserves that money.

JUDGES & CRITERIA

WWA (40%) + 3rd Party Video Agency (30%) + Exposure Meter (30%)

The 30% exposure meter can mess up Andrew's chances since he is far behind in views/comments/likes.

I've definitely been doing my part by watching it a bunch Smash

Andrews vid is nuts! So many epic spots. Huge tricks. Great editing and music. Like esnow said, always great vibes from all the WM guys clips. That would be great to see wakeskating take the vid of the years, but like wakemitch said... it would be tough, Legace's Vflip was nuts.... And there are some crazy wakeboard vids, and wakeskating is still in the shadows compared to both of the other sports. I really enjoyed Ty Morlangs vid, really creative riding and use of the obstacles at his park. That helicopter line was so sick and clean, amazing angle. And his kickflips off rails are on point. Wouldn't mind seeing a no name win some cash. Smash

-=AlexXx=-, I still think Andrew had the best overall video by far. Riding, creativity, editing, direction, diversity were all way beyond the rest

But hopefully a bunch of people who never saw wakeskating or someone besides Brian Grubb can really appreciate what's going on in the sport.

I think if Andrew had some wakesurfing in it, he might take it.

Just kidding! And sorry to all of the wake surfers...I'm just a bitter old wakeskater!

And kind of infuriorating! Twisted Evil Laughing

Here's the thing: I don't hate wakesurfing per se, but I think about all of the potential companies and people said wakeskating had 10 years ago, and then years later you hear about the struggle for growth in wakeskating. They say people like wakesurfing because it's easier, and also maybe easier on your body, etc. I bet it's fun also, and that's really neat.

Then the flip side is I've watched some of Rodney mullen's videos--his TED talk and something he had on the berrics, and what skateboarding does for your character, or maybe the kind of person you have to be in order to progress. It is the tough side of skateboarding that builds people with a certain kind of resilience (or, again, finds those people)--being able to get back up after you fall, not give up, and keep pushing for greatness. Some are elite and do things that have never been done, and that in turn pushes the next bunch of people who build something even better. Some of us struggle to be 'average' in a sense, even though we achieve our own greatness, or work towards it and that's our goal.

That said, I just find it extremely disappointing, or maybe challenging that people opt for the easy route. And maybe I'm being short sighted and a hater and all of the above. But to say wakeskating is a great in for people because it's cheaper doesn't even seem like the best argument anymore because people will spend a ton of money on gas to surf behind their boat. It's not always about money.

End of rant. I just can't help it.
