so i want to make my own wakeskate, ive done a whole lot of research and was thinking of making a composite board. basically a foam core, concave design, which will be easy with the foam. then a few layers of fibreglass cloth then gelcoat. is this the best way to go about it?
and i was wondering if someone could suggest a good vacuum compression pump thing for a proper compression mold
and is there a specific kind of griptape to use?
should i be using wood or foam
should i make it bi-level or concave(not sure if thats the right name but the shape that is thicker at the ends)
i know this is a bit complex but i sort of want an edge/elevation around where the griptape would be, so like a sort of bump all around the board, i think most shop composite boards have it. i wasnt sure if i should just try to do this with the fibreglass, by adding a few extra bits around the edges or do i cut it out of the foam(i guess that would only work if i did compression molding)
and should i attempt to make molded fins? if so any advice?(maybe just leave them from the foam cutouts?) or any groves or anything fancy(and if groves then should i cut it out of the mold or add extra fibreglass around it(deja vu )?) or should i just stick to a single plastic fin on each end?
i really want to make the best board possible to last me for ages. thanks |
