|
|
I did some wakeskating on holiday once a couple of years ago.
I'm going to wakeboard in a cable park next season and would like to do some wakeskating from time to time, I'm going to ride barefoot so I want something with a foam top.
I can buy a new 2013 Liquid Force Signal Wakeskate for €230,-
I would buy a 42" that is the biggest size still available.
I weigh about 200lbs.
Would that be a good board for me ?

How tall are you? For me I'd prefer the 40' |

What are the boards available in your store by the way? How much is your budget? |

I'm 6 feet and 6 inches tall.
You can see the availble skates here : http://www.wakeboardonline.nl/wakeskates-c-21.html?sort=3a&page=1
I don't want to spend too much on it, but I don't want to buy the cheapest either, just a board that would be good for me and is going to last me a long while.
Do I need to look for anything in particular if I want a board primarly for the cable park ? |

| PhDJ, I would either get the Mod or the LF Tao. Since you're new... I don't think you can go wrong with either of these and they both will last a while. The more you ride/better you get you can try out different types of skates but a 42 would be a good starting size for someone of your height/weight. |

Thanks for the tips, but I forgot to mention I want to ride barefoot, so I want a foam top. |

With your height 42' would be the best I suggest go with a skate shoes it feels better. (In my point of view) |

PhDJ, Hey I know you're set on riding barefoot, but I (as well as most on here) would like to convince you to wear shoes, even if you choose a foam top or grip tape. You're going to have 10x more control of the board shoes on and this will really help you learn and progress faster. Wakeskating is super fun but I've seen people get really frustrated and the main reason was they didn't have shoes on. Shoes have a massive impact on balance, control, edging, and stability.
I take the occasional barefoot "soul" session and it's really fun, but there's no way I could or would want to ride barefoot everytime, or I would be terrible at this wakeskate thing.
From those boards available to you I would recommend first the Tao, then Mod, and last Signal. All have an excellent grind base for the park, will last years, and have a solid shape. |

Thanks for the advice, if I buy the Signal, I can always go for shoes afterwards, but like I said, I will be primarly wakeboarding and only wakeskating for a change, the Tao is a bit over budget for that, the Mod does not have a foam top and is a bit small for me I think ( only in 40" ), so I will go for the Signal I think.
If I am correct it is kind of a directional board ?
Is that OK for a beginner ?
And is the Signal going to be OK on obstacles, since only the Mod has the grindbase ? |

the signal was my first board and i learnt all the basic tricks on it back and front shuv and and 3 shuv. it wasnt a bad board but if there is a chance that you would want to take wakeskating seriously and try more technical tricks i think you should go for a different board.
its a good board for a beginner but for more advanced riding you will be more happy with another board. the a symmetrical shape used to bug me.
i hit rails with it before and didnt really have an issue with no grind base _________________ from the water we were born to the water some of us shall return |

I don't see myself doing more wakeskating than wakeboarder, but never say never.
Do you think I should go for a 2014 LQ Obscure Reflex for €180,- rather than the Signal ?

well it has a good price but if your looking for a board to use for a long time wood might not be the best idea but after i looked at the specs i think it would be better then the signal for you.. they come in more sizes so you can get a bigger size it has the EVA construction your looking for _________________ from the water we were born to the water some of us shall return |
