They ripped the wakeskate community. Good thing Kyle is in there laying it down in the comments. Probably the only wakeskater/poster in that thread that has an edit up on there.
I hate when they get to the off season and they have to write some jargon to stir the pot.
All I know is when I get my speedo and tall socks on, out there bustin some mad 90deg ollies I know for a fact I look better than any rollerblader out there. _________________ https://vimeo.com/moontowerco

I thought it was hilarious. Skateboarders wanting to be rock stars, and rock stars wanting to be God/Satan. All in good fun. Lipton probably put wakeskaters on there to make fun of Brooke |

I love it, if they switched us with wakeboards, his diagram is 100% accurate. |

I hate Yobeat, and have given up on their ideas of snowboarding trends. After certain riders self-proclaimed their riding as "art", the features, tricks, and pretty much anything else in the edits got really lame really fast.
Their tattoos are terrible as well. |

johnnyk, haha. Who do you have a problem with claiming their riding is art? |

haha I don't want to call out certain people and say they suck, because obviously most of them snowboard for a living and I will never be someone who lives that life.... but I'll say this. There are two types of snowboarders: those who participate in contests, and those who don't. In recent years, those who are anti-contest have become so... anti-contest-ual that they view progression as lame and just try to imitate skateboarding to an extreme. The problem is that doing a 2 foot pole jam 180 on flat ground in the street on a snowboard isn't really worth being in a video part, nor is it "art" just because you put some whiny indie song in the part and slow it down Carlino style. I'm not referring to Jed, I would be ignorant as shiz to call him out.
So i'll say this. Scott Stevens is the most creative snowboarder in the world, in my eyes. And the features he hits are huge. He has the perfect balance of creativity and progression. If you're going to be so anti-establishment, be like him. hahaha.
But isn't this a wakeskating site? how bout that glassy water we're having? boy what a doozy. |

johnnyk, Really? You get mad at people doing street pole jams and turn around and say Scott Stevens is doing it all right? Whatever. You snowboard for your reasons, don't be mad at others for doing it how they want to.
Anyways. Yeah. Glassy water. |

Jake S, I don't see why it is wrong criticize certain trends in any sport. Go to any skateboard forum. all I was saying was that some snowboarders spend way too much time trying to imitate skateboarding that they lose their own creativity. Scott Stevens is great because he pushes the limits on what can be done with a snowboard, not just stuff that's already been done on a skateboard. And above all he rides for fun, and even says in Defenders that its all crazy and stupid. He doesn't think he's pioneering some obscure form of art.
I think that criticism is necessary for anything. If everyone was content with everything there would be no point in any sort of forum. |
