|
|
Hey so after watching a bunch of videos, I noticed a lot of pros spray paint logos on their grip. Does anyone know where they get the stencils, or how to make them? I know I'm new and all but that just makes it look really cool and I'd like to do that to my skateboard actually haha

I think most of them just put down the stickers and paint over, then pull them off.
You can always print on a yellow folder then use a blade to cut out the stencil
or get those paint pens and do it free hand
I like how stoaked you are about wakeskating so far! Keep it going, I am waiting on your first shuv landed post!

Oh so you put a sticker on the folder, then paint the entire folder, then cut it up so it's a stencil?
And thanks! Yeah I'm super stoked. It just looks really fun, something I know I'll enjoy. And I'm sure I'll keep you guys posted on my progress, hopefully after next weekend I'll be able to atleast say I can get up and carve around!

You could cut your own stencils also. I did that for awhile, along with the freehand paint pen thing.

ive done this quite a bit . you fint the picture you want (uasually search stencils on google) then you print it out and with a pen out line the areas that you want to cut out then take the paint pen and cut them out. this can take quite long

You can find stencil patterns online and plenty of tutorials on how to make/use your own. I used to print them out and then cut them out with an xacto knife, then just tape them to my deck and hit it with a little spraypaint.
Make sure that you cover the rest of the surface up if you do it with spray, it tends to get everywhere and if you didn't cover the parts you didn't want to paint you'll have a light mist on the board.

Okay, thanks! So basically, you just trace the picture you want onto some cardboard or something, then cut it out and use it as a stencil?

I like that NASCAR/billboard look...... It lets people know I'm still a ultimate bro brah....... And that my rock star energy remote wake skate was popping real good.

I guess the sponsor stuff can get kind of boring, but when you look at old photos of natas' skateboard, or mark gonzales, that grip art is a whole different thing with them and i loved it.
But now i just want to get some aquarium grip. #branded #YOLO

I like having a visual reference, I always just used a sticker from whatever board company it was and stenciled it on with white or magenta. Some boards are hard to see, with my skateboards I always scratch a cross or line for foot placement.
