Yeah so I made a post in the classfields, if I don't get any replies in the next day or so I'll probably just go with either the heritage or the wooden obscura. Thanks! I don't know what it is about the heritage.. but something about it makes me want it. Ha |

then get the byerly. It's all about what YOU want, not what someone else tells you. _________________ www.backyardrailpark.com |

i actually like my 39 revival. ive rode a few different wood skates and i keep going back to the byerly for some reason. it might be because i have big feet im not sure but im looking forward to trying out an integ this summer but my byerly isnt holding me back by any means.
the 2012 revivals are thinner and lighter than the older ones i picked up one from evo last year for under $130 when they had a big sale day. btw go 39 unless you are a pretty big guy. im 6' tall size 12 shoe anywhere between 180-195 and i started on a bigger board but the 39 makes tricks and control much easier. _________________ Ross |

Dude I am the exact same height/ weight/ shoe size. And man I am so torn... I like both the revival and the heritage a lot, but I can't decided on which one. Why does the revival better having big feet? Is it something about the shape or what? |

bondmaxbondrock, i did recommend the foam core board, based purely on the fact that you're starting out as a recreational rider and you want a board to last. Sometimes it's hard to say how some wood boards will hold up. If you get more serious about wakeskating, then you can start looking at some other wood boards that might be more expensive. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

electricsnow, man, I am so torn... everyone on here seems to think wood rides better, but I mean I am someone making the transition from snowboarding and wakeboarding, do you think the revival would be a better board for me, other than simply it's lifespan? Thanks, you've been a big help! |

I'm going purely on lifespan, i think the great majority of us ride wood wakeskates on here, but they're not the brands you're looking at--watermonsters and remotes are popular on here. But you are going to pay more for those, aside from the clearance remotes. I think activewake.com has some clearance remotes for 260.00. Those boards have abs sidewalls and the base is fiberglassed. They're made by the people who make slingshot wakeboards, so some tech is shared (vertically laminated wood core, etc). There's just a little bit more put into those boards to make them durable.
I can post pics of a watermonster and remote if you'd like to see what they look like. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Yeah that's just out of my price range, I do plan on investing in a remote if I get more into it though. So do you think I should go with the revival? And what are your thoughts on the heritage? |

I personally recommend you stick with the foam core board. I just think in terms of durability, it's going to be more reliable. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Okay, thanks. I mean I'm not going to be riding any cable or doing any rails, so will the durability of the revival still be an advantage to me? Sorry if I'm sounding like I'm overthinking, I'm just really torn between the two and want to make the right decision. Everyone says wood feels better, so I just can't decide. Thanks! |

I mean from what I've heard, wood just gives you that looser feel, and that sounds more appealing to me, than something that edges real hard like a wakeboard. Then I have the choice, you know? Either ride my wakeboard and have that locked in, hard edge feel, or ride my wakeskate, and have that loser feel.
Of course, all this could be a load of BS and I might not feel any difference whatsoever from either board. But just from what I've been told... |

I think one of the biggest draws to a wood board is the density. I'm not sure what the edge profile is like on the heritage, but they started trying different shapes on the compression boards, like a full bevel to soften the edge and make it more forgiving,,or a variqble edge, where it's harder on the ends and softer in the middle for forgiveness on the lip.
With what you say, i don't even think the differences between wakeboarding and wakeskating are sumed up by feeling loose on a board vs. Locked in. On one, you'll have bindings, on the other you won't. You're doing completely different tricks on each board.
One time thomas horrell said something to the effect of, you can have a hard edge on a wakeskate, but how often are you going to be doing a hard cut into the wake like darin shapiro?
At this point, i say get what you want because it's up to you at this point, and you have a ton of info. I don't want to step on any toes, but sometimes those particular wood boards don't last that long, and if it delams after your warranty is up you'll be bummed and you'll be out a wakeskate. You don't even need to hit a rail or obstacle to have a board split--sometimes it's just a construction issue. If anyone feels i'm off base, feel free to correct me. There are just other wood boards i'd look at before a heritage. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Okay, thanks! Any other wood boards you recommend I check out? And basically what you're saying is, the composite will basically ride the same as the wooden one? |

I just sent you a lead via pm.
The composite and wood boards won't ride the same. But designers have done things to try and replicate that feeling through rail shape and foam density. I know bryan dawley at obscura/lf worked to give their foam boards a feeling similar to wood. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |
