Hi everyone
I'm new to wakeskating. I've been around the water all my life tubing, skiing, and dabbled in wakeboarding a little.
I've been skateboarding for a long time and decided to try wakeskating as it seems the nearest to skating in form.
Here's the question
I'm 5'11" 250ish lbs and from what I can gather by reading articles on the subject, I need a longer wakeskate to help support me. I see that the longest common size is a 44 or 45". Would that be sufficient for me?
I'd love to hear from anyone else who isn't lucky enough to be of the thinner build.
Thanks
Paul |

| I'm around 210 and have always ridden around 40 - 42". Haven't tried anything smaller, so unfortunately I can't really comment on that. I feel like the material and shape of the skate affects things significantly as well, so if you can try out a few different builds. Same size skate made of wood vs. composite vs. alien materials rides and feels different for sure. Also, consider whether your aim is to go wake to wake vs. park riding/technical tricks. Regardless of size, it'll be easier to kick flip a 40 " vs. a 44". Not sure if that helps....but it's the best I got. |

| I'm 6'4", 225lbs and generally like wood skates around a 41". Biggest deck I had was a 43" and that was ok too. I don't have a lot of experience with composite boards but expect those to be (for the most part) a little quicker and ride higher in the water than a wood deck does. |

| Dp4auburn, I would recommend the Remote Yan (40") or Hooker (40.5") for you. The length will be good for your height and stance, and the rocker line is very fast which will make up for the boards' smaller size. Also, they are a lot thicker and floatier than other skates making them ride even higher on the water and faster. Plus, the shapes are proven and ride great. They are built to last which will help be nice for you being a bigger rider. |
