Ok guys, i am thinking about getting a jon boat or ski and i have some questions. Which is better? What is the minimum size motor required for a 150 lb rider? Most likely 2 people in the boat, sometimes 1. Does it have to be flat bottom jon, or can it be a V? Thanks guys! Ohh and post your pictures of your boats! |

Well i'm not sure wether one or the other is "better" But a jon boat would use less gas. Most people use like 25 hp to 30 hp tillers. Id probably say to shoot for a flat bottom because of the stability (Especially if you plan on putting on a tower.) _________________ ---------------------------

IMO def go with the Jon boat. Ski is sweet but Jon boat you can chill and relax and move on the boat. You can throw all your gear in with a cooler and have room to change and dry off during wetsuit season. Do not get a v bottom you will need a lot more power go with a flat bottom. I've seen 25hp tillers but no more than two peeps in the boat and one rider. Go with a 40hp and steering wheel if you can I think it's completely worth it for ease of driving. I don't have a jonny myself but ride with friends who do. |

I'd say Jon boat if you want to be with more people. The modified V hull will be better for rough water but will require a little more power. Also make sure it's welded because rivets tend to leak after a while. I've heard good things about SeaArk, Tracker Grizzly, and Gator tough jons. Hope this helped!
Also since this is just my research I'm looking at Jon boats too, would the seaark 1448 MV be able to support a 40 hp? _________________ 1997 Seadoo GTX |
