Whats everyones opinions? What do you ride? Personally I just tried my first wood board today and I don't think I am ever going back, just fell in love with the feel. I know before I heard people talking about how it felt more like skating but I didn't know it would feel this cool. |

I like wood boards but when it comes to buying one I usually go comp. Most wood boards have a limited life span and as long as they get the shape right comp isnt that much different. |

Have always and have only ridden wood boards. I really like the idea of a composite but they always seem like they'd be so much lighter (i know the new tech is probably a lot better though). Something about the feel of wood on rails is nice too. |

I rode wood decks up untill this summer wich really isn't saying much, but I went ahead and got a used cajun cougar. Something I've noticed from the switch from wood to composite is that the composite slides alot better than my old new wood concave did. _________________ You make me want to punch a baby!

I think Nick's presence has something to do with it, maybe even coupled with product availability. but most wood decks are being made a lot better--at least the way I see it, most wood decks are still composite decks because they might utilize fiberglass or a sidewall material, etc. Maybe I'm being liberal with the definition. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Very very true about the construction;-) This poll does show change in customer satisfaction which probably relates to increased durability which is nice to see. Composites nowadays are what? Integ/mutiny, revivals, mods, SST"s? With wood being Heritages, Impulses, Oaks, WM's, and maybe Remotes? Random _________________ Love Life

wood composite is the way to go!
There is a night and day difference between the integrity foam core boards and bamboo/birch core boards.
I would love to ride an all wood board to "keep it real" but in the grand scheme of things they just don't last that long and require constant maintenance to keep riding unless replaced.
even if i do have to fiberglass the sidewalls/reinforce its structure I will probably continue to ride them.
But who knows, if for some reason i end going broke and cant keep replacing them I will always have an integ.. |

I think the biggest factor is the amount of companies that make the boards. We now have remote which everyone loves, as well as watermonsters, which are at such an unbeatable price point. I'm sure nick being on remote helps, but not because fanboys want to ride what nick rides, i think its because his deck rides so much differently then every other deck made. In my opinion people are moving to wood to ride decks like his, as well as riding the very available, durable, and cheaper wood boards.
I rode an integrity for a long time, and a month or so before nick switched to remote i switched to watermonsters because they were so available, all i had to do was call Austin at the LP and the deck was on its way, not to mention that they retail for 250$, at that price (shipping included on both) i can get 2 WM for the price of one integrity. _________________

Over the years I've heard a ton of people say they buy composite boards just because they last longer or don't want to buy 2 boards a year. I'd like to hear what other "action sports" have consumers that base their product selection solely off life expectancy. Not saying there is anything wrong with that, I just find it interesting. I feel like most people know what they are getting into when they pick up a hobby like this and expect to thrash some product. Especially with the direction wakeskating has been taking, not too many people are strictly riding jet/boat anymore.
I guess there is always going to be those people that are strapped for cash. And I can't really say it's because wakeskates are still new and evolving, because skateboards, snowboards and surfboards are still advancing their technology & design every year.
Anyways, I forgot what this tangent is even about. Buy whatever you want, as long as it doesn't have gymnastic straps on it.
I'd be keen to see a separate poll for which you think performs better of the two, or three and add bi-levels in there. (Just for old-times sake)

tad, Well take skateboarding for instance, people might want to buy more expensive decks that will last them longer without snapping or wheels that won't flat spot quickly. Wakeskating isn't the only sport were people make purchases that depending on durability. _________________ ---------------------------

11RANDOMNESS, I was mainly directing that to the people I've heard buy composites SOLELY off life expectancy. Even if they prefer the way a wood board rides and feels under their feet. |
