Always been a huge fan of GoPro but last week I was given a Contour Roam from a sales rep and I gotta say this camera is way sick. There is no housing or case for this camera it mounted directly to my helmet with one of those adhesive mounts. The angle was little off but I'll figure that out. The second video is one I did all on GoPro. What are your guys' opinion on both cameras?

No I wasn't riding with them in. I put a marine putty in there to help the board last longer when I'm not using them

Sick riding on both accounts. I myself am more partial to the GoPro 2 myself, personal preference. Both videos look good tho, hard to pick a clear winner.

What boards were you riding? Finless?

I don't have one, but go pros seem sick because a) noisia vision is sick and b) I love that rip curl mirage campaign where they used something like a 10 camera array to capture these crazy 3d shots. Check it out on YouTube if you're curious...it's one of my favorite edits to watch and i don't even surf (but I want to).

I will have to check out your vids later!

The Contour is a great camera but for the price of a gopro you get more. Like the contour is only waterproof to 1 meter but the gopro comes with a case that is waterproof up to 60 meters. And the gopro comes with a handful of different mounts while the contour only comes with 1 or 2 and a box of mounts for contour at the cheapest is $60? I think the gopro is the best bang for the buck but if you have the money the contour has more types of mounts then the gopro but are more expensive.

Contours are sooo much better than Gopros! You don't have to worry about whether you are on the right setting or not with Contour... just turn it on when you're ready and off when you're done. None of that "hey is my camera on?" BS. GoPro just markets better if you ask me...

Regardless of which one is better, helmet cam videos are the worst. Haha.

Killing though Alex! Next time get a homie to film you at the skatepark, I've actually seen some fun skateboard edits with GoPros.

The newest GoPro model Hero2 has a one button optional setting. It powers up and starts recording when you push the power button and stops recording and turns off the next time you push the power button. Just set your other settings in advance and no worries. The optional LED view finder is also a great new feature. You can do a short test run, review it, and make the necessary adjustments for the perfect frame.

I haven't use a Contour so I can't say one is better than the other, but I am very happy with my GoPro.
