So I haven't been on this site in a week or two and when I checked it last night I was blown away with what all has been happining in wakeskating lately! Is it just my stoak or is this the best year wakeskatings ever seen? There's so much going on on all fronts.

For starters we've got the first legit wakeskate tour ever thanks to Silas and his hard work. This is huge, it's gonna get those who deserve sum recognition and get sum money into the guys who are killing it's pockets. When most strappers win contest money there heading straight to buying rims or pitbikes. When these skaters win money alot of them are putting it right back into the sport they love. (like hansel buying a bobcat, and nick buying his land up around suwanee.)

Then I'm noticing how many independent companies are around right now. Remote, WM, sprocket, integ/mutiny, oaks return, virtue, new and the list just keeps going. It makes me feel good to buy from these types of companies cause I know they put wakeskating first. As opposed to buying another hyperforce and puttin more money in Tony Finns pockets.

Then there the emergence of all these skater designed and built winch parks and the contests to go with them. There's literaly railponds somewhere in just about every state. We know about all the ones that belong to pros and that get regular media exposure like the pasturas drop, obscura championships, and bens yard. Then were about to be blown away with newer ones like battle falls and the one near the Suwannee. But there's so many more that are out there that have just stayed underground. Like here in bama just as an example, there's the tallassee rail pond, the skate farms rail pond and a new three level man made ponds connected with rails kickers and a spillway. You don't have to look far for amazing terrain to ride, you just gotta know where to look.

Next you've got the announcement of a new wakeskate magazine coming out from sum of the most legit people in and around our sport. I mean Walton running a mag, cmon you know it's gonna be sick. And as great as tad has made the sub imagine what he will do with a mag!!!

Ive also noticed more companies outside wakeskating frothing to get involved. Nikes always been great to us but by dropping the 6.0 and making us a part of regular old Nike is great. Were not nikes lil side show anymore. In there eyes we have arrived. Then I'm stoaked on tevas involvment the last year and a half. We've had the support of seadoo for almost a decade and now yamaha is jumping into the mix. This could very likely bring Kawasaki and Honda in soon. The winch companies that are invovled seem passionate about what there doing. At least rediculous, pulldozer, and boodog. Now I'm hoping to see a company turn sum John boats or tinnies into RTR wakeskate machines.

Then we have special events like devise and conquer (in it's second year) and nor cal convergence being supper successfully. We need a convergence type of event sumwhere here in the southeast. Just a non contest no pressure chill and ride w homies event where it's as much about the get together and good vibes as it is about what tricks are going down.

Theres also the fact that that in the last couple of years you can pull up to a cable park and see multiple nobodys strait throwing down. Even in the contest scene you've got new names and old names making it into finals. (nick Robinson, George daniels.). There's kids all across the country that none of us have heard of that are capable of dropping jaws.

I guess the last thing I can think of is all the amazing web clips, mag articles and blogs that are regularly updated and truly entertaining! I love the sub and was bummed to see la sewer go down the drain but now I know why; the new mag. Also it was great to have MTM win video of the year over strapper vids and hopefully noisia vision can do the same. (if they can quit filming bangers long enough to actualy release it). I also discovered the uncontained blog last night and the excitement I feel about it is well, uncontainable.

Combine all my rants above with they fact that cables are sprouting up everywhere and it becomes obvious that this IS the year of the wakeskate!!!

Sorry this post was so long I'm just excited and proud to be apart of this great sport, scene, and family.

The truth is out there and Thomas horrell knows what it is!

the only years I prefer more are like 02-04...cassette rulling shizzle, linear perspective, sfumato, the original toe jam, asterisk, kampus, mutiny and the birth of integrity...I guess the periods of radness in wakeskating cycle!

This year made me think about it, and wakeskaters have the best spirit because more than any other board sport, I feel like they're down to make shizzle happen, or build what they need. thomas and his winch, myles and his role models, ben and his iron, all of the wakeskate tour stops that are currently being built by riders, for riders, etc etc etc... I don't hate wakeboarding, but at the same time we're lucky we're not wakeboarders. Cool Their advancement for 2012 is a $107,000 boat.

And yes, according to heather lee "the truth is out there and thomas horrell knows what it is!"

or something like that!

i was thinking about these years as well.

I really like the way things are slowly building up. The fact that there are so many people that are all so motivated to change things, it's one of the coolest things to watch. I seriously cant wait to see how Nick's place turns out.

I vote 2004. It seemed like anything was possible back then. As for this year it is nice to see what Remote is doing. Otherwise there is not much to talk about except which affluent young white people got an extra flip or spin on their GoPros.

And here i am debating on going to the LIPSMACK premier in Knoxville tonight.

The best thing to happen to wakeboarding was ws.com banning DC. Rolling Eyes

POPTART, to be fair, he came off like a douche, and his original edits used to be very gimicky/terrible. But I've noticed his edits are actually much improved these days. Good for him

Yeah. Things seem to have gotten better for him since he's been involved with Alliance.

Lollar, it's the blog about Nick's new property. http://uncontain3d.blogspot.com/

Echo, yes the ponds are hittable but the pumps for the spillway aren't installed yet so the spillway not ready. The guy that's building it allready has a kicker in place to transfer up the ponds and he's supposed to start building rails and transfer wallride this weekend. It is in bham. Over in the moody/Leeds area. Let me know if u wanna go winch it sumtime. The tallassee railpond is pretty legit too.

Who was DC?

Poptart. As much as you hate on strapping I'm surprised you'd consider the lipsmack premier. It is sick though. What Perry reeder and shredtown do is insane.

tad, IDK Embarassed just another thread to spamalot

Bamalurker, I went to HS with Jeff house, one of my best friends is a regional for them, the local MC guys are all friends of mine, and so is the local corrie dyer(their girl rider), so I guess as much as i hate on them they all know deep down I do care for them, i just wish they would all skate Twisted Evil

dirty cracker was the most interesting member on ws.com

he could turn a thread upside down and suck you into a pointless conversation, it was hilarious how worked up people would get over anything the guy said

obviously was too much for everyone, so they banned him to forever stay on wakeboarder.com and with the exit of brooke(who was seriously nice every time i talked to her, and still is) at alliance somehow the stars aligned for him to get a job with them, since then he seems to have done great, and imo the reason aws has so little skate coverage is from this...

but who cares

TheWakeskateMag is going to go places where no one has been in wake. With the vision and crew there Shocked . What I imagine every wakeskate mag meeting to be like

or

or

Anyways Its amazing to see less "team" work and more "teamwork"

Im Mcloving it.
