Whats some Wakeskate DVD's that you think all wakeskaters should own?

Sfumato for me is a must have for all wakeskaters

Super good soundtrack

First time we see the winch in use

The 4 track

One of the best crews in wakeskating.

Super ahead of its time

Washed up is a new favorite for sure! But I like them all. I think it's important to buy the videos if you want to see more in the future!

yes! great photo labellethrasher!

I surely couldn't narrow it down to one and I'm sure I have a soft spot for videos that other people are probably way over at this point. And even with this list, there are still a ton of videos I still like to watch, like "money can't buy" and things like that...I guess ultimately I buy every wakeskate video that comes out, and there have been a number of good ones along the way.

sfumato is in my DVD player right now!

Linear perspective--the first cassette vid, the first all wakeskating video, and also a video that showed that you don't have to do clip-clip-clip styled vids.

asterisk--it was the first wakeskating video that wasn't just a team video (that means cassette put out the first two all wakeskate vids), so you were able to see some new talent in one place. plus I'm just sentimental for the time period and the people in it. this video will always be a favorite.

adrift--super progressive, great vibe...I watched that video a ton in the summer of 06.

in its travels--a great vid with up and commers, amazing soundtrack. originally I thought that video was too long and I couldn't watch it all, but now it's one of my favorites.

volume 2, strictly for aaron reed's closing section! But really it's all pretty good.

more than machines because it's one of the only new videos that really draws me in. the others are very good (ex: the nike vid or washed up), don't get me wrong, but more than machines is different for me. I like tad's style with editing and post production treatments. I think it's pretty inspiring and I just dig the character he added to that film with music and editing work.

Lots of magic on VHS tapes many of you probably haven't seen or never will. What's a VCR, you might say? Anyway, my personal favorites...

boardumb...as seaman said. thomas' section, obviously...first kickflip on film, awesome bomb drop attempts off of a boat house roof. it's cool to see how his riding style and interests changed from video section to video section.

decline for thomas' section...on a cut down wakeboard.

wide awake for thomas' section...on the first cassette flat decks. I still watch this one a lot!

Hotdoggin' for the cassette commercial. I still love watching this section as well and pretty much need to just digitize it so I don't have to deal with the re-wind button.

and I guess just for historical purposes, I think fire it up is a good one to have, becuase you have thomas, byerly, and maybe randy harris in there, all riding different boards and doing different stuff. thomas was riding with shoes and grip and his kickflip was also in this video. conversely, byerly was riding a blunt that probably wasn't even cut down but was kitted out with bad ass traction that probably would cost anyone else 200.00 or something. and he was riding barefoot, and he tried a kickflip but it sucked (but he tried). then randy just did wake to wake stuff on an old hyperlite waterskate from 1998, if I remember correctly. So that's just cool because it's not like that anymore. There aren't any surprises with boards, and it's like standards have been set so we have certain expectations for what we know will probably be in a video.

so anyway, all of those reasons, plus old skate and snowboarding vids are why I will always have a VCR.

Totally! it's funny that you can think back to a time where it was basically like five main wakeskaters pushing wakeskating: thomas, byerly, grubb, mcguckin and kovacich. then there were other guys like cole, jim, and myles. Now it's insane and a lot of people can totally shred.
