Now that we are still in the early months of the season, (for us non FL) I've been noticing something.
Boardshorts over a full suit? Whats the point? To look "cool". I don't really get it. I can maybe see some shorts thrown on over a shorty but a full...really~
I was a TSR a month or so ago and almost everyone had their boardshorts on over their full wetsuit. One kid had jorts over his full suit.

Someone explain please... Rolling Eyes

I think it looks worse... I'd rather freeze in boardshorts to look cool Very Happy

Also cold water isn't that big of a deal to me, I'm no pansy!

kyle walton rides in jeans

dude if you want to wear shorts wear them

if you want to wear a wetsuit jeans and a tee do it

or if you want to wear just your Birthday suit

its all different ways to have fun wakeskating

whatever makes you comfy

i think it would be cool to involve a little plot, a few pyrotechnics, mustaches, suits , and a jet ski wakeskate action chase scene in a video, to go along with the appropriate wardrobe

some ppl feel more comfortable to wear normal clothes over the much awkward skin tight fitting rubber suits.....
not so much to be "cool" just comfortable not having to rep your bulge around the 15 guys at the cable park

I don't understand why this is posted about SO much.

Did that kid with the jorts at TSR bother you so much that you thought about it the whole day you were riding, the whole drive home, over dinner, while you browsed facebook, and then when you got on to wakeskating.com you just had to post about it?

It just seems like you should have better things to worry about in your life...just saying.

Frye, You really blew up over that jorts comment...Please forgive me~ I didn't know I bothered you by that. I would have thought twice. You should have better things to worry about in your life than worrying about something that I have been stressing about every night that you just had to post about it. It's been hard to sleep thinking about this topic.

I know we aren't surfing but I'm not really seeing many (or any) surfers wearing shorts over suits.

I was at TSR in February with a full wetsuit on. I had my boardshorts over them. I think I look silly wearing just a wetsuit. I probably think you look silly. Also, the water was cold and might have been causing shrinkage. Who really cares. I am now cutting off some jeans so I can wear jorts out there the next time.

This is brought up as often as fins. Rolling Eyes

Throw up a post with some pictures or what everyone was throwing instead of the red carpet summary of what everyone was wearing that day. Us northerners want to see some action!

No, its not over.

I saw a guy at OWC on a day when its 89 degrees, put a fullsuit over boardshorts, then put another pair of boardshorts over the wetsuit. Nothing anyone has mentioned so far is even close to being as ridiculous.

But, wetsuits are purely for function. The rest is "fashion"

The only thing I don't understand about jorts is I've been given a hard time for liking to wear real skate shoes by someone who loves wearing jorts. Jorts are as functionally awkward as skate shoes.

For some weird reason, I like repping a bulge every now and again. Its flattering when those 15 guys take notice.

In conclusion, I never will wear boardshorts if I'm wearing a wetsuit, even if its only top weather....

if you're wearing a wetsuit then you're riding in cold water.

no one wants to rock a cold water bulge with a bunch of other dudes.

For me, it's not "purely fashion." I don't give two shits what I look like. I surf, skimboard, and wakeskate. When I wakeskate, I ALWAYS wear boardshorts over my full now. Two years ago, I bought a brand new O'neill Mutant and I was stoked. The first day I was trying it out, my buddy who had never driven a boat before was pulling me. I was hitting this flatbar and he floored the boat right when I ollied onto it. I slipped out, slid the trex on my ass, and ripped the chickity china the chinese chicken out of the ass section of my brand new full. O'neill thankfully sent me a new one no charge. Ever since then, I've worn boardshorts over my full when I wakeskate. I don't do the same when I surf/skim, but for wakeskating it's not worth it to me.

Touché!

But what about your lower legs and arms?

And lets say you are not hitting rails....then what?

Everyone should be proud of their bulges!
